HOW MY HOOD FOR THE TOP IS NOT OPENING PROPERLY THERE ARE NO LEAKS, IT STARTS UP THEN STOPS I HAVE MANUALY OPEN IT

no thermostat is good that old./ ever.
and the hose does not get water coolant from thermostat until the engine is hot and thermostat is opens( begin to open)
you forgot to burp all air from the cooling loop.
you are doing all this wrong.
well the reservoir goes empty when you do it all wrong, get all air of the loop first. then fill reservoir 1/2full of 50a%AF (antifreeze)mix.
the thermosat not installed backwards and STAT bleed hole (jigglepin)
must be up hill. (so it can be burped)
once properly filled of coolant, any leaks are seen clear as day
hood up(not driven) and let engine warm fully up and like magic
all leaks are seen , if present. and from the exact spot , is what matters most. (you never said where, only below crank pulley)
sorry the crank is not water cooled. look again and look closer
let engine idle up to 30 min to find the leak.




other than hoses or water pump leaks.

F= freeze/core plug, x2
up top is a leaking intake manifold gasket (common too)

Robin, it sounds like you have something binding in the motor assembly. You see anything that catches and causes a restriction in the movement of the door closing are opening will cause the door to reverse. If you see anything touching the door or the props that hold the door open move the obstruction and it should work properly. there is a plastic cover like a antitheft you might have to break it off in order to pry the latch but is the cable broken you can grab the end with visegrips and pull the cable with someone tapping on the hood to release it but most likely the spring is broken in the latch under the hood so try these little ideas and good luck

Look under the back seat to see if there is any oil . Sometimes the hydrolic rams that move the top will leak fluid. If there is oil refill the fluid may help get the top open, but the ram will need to be replaced.

Either have shop that redid your top or a BMW dealer, re-sync the power top motors. They do a literal "ballet" back there and if they are out of sync can twist your top. Have a specialist sync your top motors.

Here's a little tip.....Have someone pop the hood release while you softly but firmly pop the hood with a closed fist.You want to hit it in the center of the hood on the top part with your fist.Make sure your thumb is pointing up so you don't hurt yourself or your car.I hope this helps, rate me accordingly, Thanks!!

If you open the hood and look at the end of the headlight motor there is a knob that you can turn by hand to manualy open the headlight

sounds like somethings preventing it from closing properly. Check it well worst case you need a new convertable module. Cost money but better then buying a new top
