When I try to turn over the ignition it just makes a slight tickking sound from the fuse box area

If your 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer won't start even though the battery is fully charged and the interior lights don't work, it could be due to a faulty ignition switch or a blown fuse.

You dont.it's fuel injected and has a mass air flow sensor near air filter box .and will cause all sorts of problems ...if car isn't starting then ....do this. Turn ignition on do not start.just turn it on. You should hear a slight humming sound this is your fuel pump.which means it's working.if you don't hear it then it's not.either check the fuse or check the relay found under the hood near the firewall or under your wiper motor.make sure you have power to the relay.then make sure you have power to the pump ....or tow it somewhere to get fixed.

well it may sound stupid but check your cigarette lighter to see if there are any coins in there, they can do alot of damage. If thats ok, it sounds like your multifunction switch. It is located in the steering column. It is where your turnsignals are connected to. You would have to take off the plastic cover on the steering column to see what is going on, be careful and good luck.

it could be the fuel pump but with the cost involved I would look at other cheaper options before replacing the pump.

the fuel cut off was reset but have you checked the fuel pump relay, the relay is a small electromagnet type switch inside a small black or green box on the main fuse box. if this is working correctly then when you turn the ignition on you should here a slight buzzing noise or a click normally from the dash area. I do not have schematics for this vehicle so you will need to locate the fuel relay to rule that out. if there is no noise then the relay is not working, if there is a buzzing noise then the pump is functioning, it is difficult sometimes as one needs the other to work or at least give some indication of the fault.

Try the relay first and then go from there, you may be able to test the pump by fitting 2 wires from the fuse box, again it will make a buzzing sound if its working. Lastly try and remove the battery overnight that will reset the ECU or cars computer to factory settings in most cases.

1995 GrCher Orvis - I have now just started with the same problem. An incessent loud high pitched alarm sound. Identical fuse, ignition on/off, and ticking issues. Can start jeep, warning sounds as normal followed by incessent tone, I can remove fuse to get quiet, but then when I close the door I get the identical alarm sound, but with a slight pause. Tone. Tone, Tone, etc. I can't figure. Tore through all components of dash: to learn that the alarm seems to emminate from the transmission floor area, and is not in the instrument panel (f up #1) nor is it behind the dashboard (f up #2). I'm stuck now... Anybody got something for me? Is it a transmission warning?

no nothing will happen, if you listen for a clicking sound in the fuse box area when you turn the ignition on that meens the realy is ok, then it will possibly be a strater solinoid fault, you can try getting someone to turn the ignition over and at the same time tap the starter, this may start the solinoid off and turn the starter, make sure battery it 100% charged first hope this helps

I am assuming this is a fuel injected vehicle? Check fuse box to make sure your fuel pump fuse is not blown. You can bleed off any trapped air by having someone turn on the ignition while you hold the release valve somewhere in the rail injector. It looks like a valve stem on a tire. If still no gas squirting out, have the person crank the engine while you try releasing pressure again. If still no luck, leave ignition completely on while you listen for electric motor sounds coming from the area of the fuel tank. Most vehicles now days have the fuel pump located inside the fuel tank. I pray that this is not your problem as a lot of these are hard to remove/replace! Without any more specific info on your vehicle, this is a much that I can advise. Let me know results?

Check all underhood fuses. Maxi-fuses.If a maxi-fuse has burnt then the circut it protects should be checked thoroughly

I had this once, get the car running and turn the ignition key very slightly and very lightly from side to side while the engine is at idle, this may show up a faulty ignition switch if the engine cuts when you're turning it.
Also the ecu on the nearside inner wing may be at fault, see if you can find a friend with the same car to try swapping over to his first to test as they are expensive is this isn't the problem.
Finally, a common fault with these cars is the fuel pump relay, its the biggest black plastic covered relay in the fuse/relay box, at the rear of the front offside inner wing area.

check the ignition hot wire and also check your ignition switch, if you can not find the short area, you have to change the whole wire direct to your fuse box to solve this problem.

wire problem is the hardest case for the car, wish you good luck.
