D.R.L (DRL) module disconnect (defeat hack) - Compass Jeep Cars & Trucks

canada DLR>????? where is car? or sold new where, matters.
what country , ours ended USA .
lost the glove box owner guide, it answers that for your car/county
mine long ago had it (and defeated day 1, ) and is just DIM headlamps
and parks. (yes lows are wired to a resistor or modulator to dim them)

wiki DRL see how they work and how some are different by country.
we proved here they do nothing, at all., unless drivers can't tell day from night (hippies) some are even auto mode sensed.
just more toys to fail.

DLR DEAD, car drives ok, all else seems ok but??????
HL , dead. parks too? high and lowbeams all good>? or not (all)
does Highbeam cluster status lamp glow on HIGH
if any of that works the 2 HL fuses are good (if not all dead. or one side dead) learn to post full evidence or the job gets real hard fast

no engine told or VIN so I can tell you.
L82/L36/L67 engines, the engine bay fuse box JB are not hte same
yes the manual states the is a DRL module./
one if there engines has (bay box)

the IP fuse JB is buried in this dash, deep.
has 2 fuses. DRL and HVAC (says DRL tool)
why not just rent the manual and read all this complexity your self.

why not tell what engines is there so engine bay matched JB can be presented to you, sorry they are NO THE SAME under hood. not.

The dash center JB (aka fuse box cab) is hard to get to.
RTM buy or rent the manual and read.
hacking DRL on Buick's are the most hard.

Or go to any auto repair shop ASE and tell them your story.

There is no DRL module .
Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The DRL are a function of the front turn signal lamps. The DRL will operate when the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the gear selector is not in the PARK position, and the headlamp switch is in the OFF position. When the BCM receives these signals it will signal the turn/hazard flasher module to turn on the DRL by grounding the DRL low control signal. The turn/hazard flasher module supplies voltage to the DRL on the right and left DRL/turn supply voltage circuits. If a front turn signal lamp is inoperative the DRL will not operate.
The DRL can be deactivated by turning the headlamp switch to the DRL OFF position while the DRL are operating. The DRL defeat position of the headlamp switch is a momentary ground signal to the BCM to command the DRL function ON or OFF. After each key cycle the BCM will default to the DRL ON function.

DRL control module , maybe . Go to http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams . To find out what is causing the problem electrical testing needs to be done . Videos on youtube ,basic automotive electrical testing , how to read a wiring diagram , how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter . Check B+ voltage to the DRL control module and the ground circuit as well .Also check pin #1 at the DRL control module , this is low beam signal circuit .

if you dont like it, you can defeat it, but to do so you need the schematic off Alldata.com . (or the real FSM $$$$ book)

one way to fool all DLR is at the DRL module (logic box)
you make the box think brakes are on all the time.
there are many ways, but the least intrusive ways are best
so when you sell the car , you can put it back to STOCK normal condition. see?
also the BCM body computer might not be happy doing these
hacks, it monitors the DRL for normal operation.

on USA cars. you never posted your country so, cant say
at all what you have or what is there. as DRL is not required here
in USA but in say Canada it is..... so.........

the drl system can not be turned off unless you disconnect the drl module.

Most likely is going to be a break switch locaded under the dashboard on driver side on break pedal is a switch that is depressed while processing on brake pedal , disconnect switch and see if the problem persist and if it doesn't replace break light switch

check fuses first , as always.

DRL failure. there are many.

some cars even cut DRL for.

hand brake stuck on , or any brake failure.

or charge system failure, (so the battery stays working longer)

we use a voltmeter at the DRL module , checking all pins

to find out why its dead.

seems (old post) the old previous owner , hacked it.or its bad.
if car is in canada, the DRL module must work.
if not fix it. see if its hacked first. (see cut wires to it?)
ive seen ever hack possible to these.
lots.
check fuses first.
check for hacks
replace the module.
or diagnose it with a voltmeter, easy
see alldata.com most support the canada. versions.
under the headlight sections.
