What size bolts hold the crankshaft pulley on a 2006 Kia Sorento?

I want you to go to this url, it's the official KIA forum dealing with older Sorentos.https://www.kia-forums.com/2003-2010-sorento-forum/53820-sorento-crank-bolt.html It's free to create a login.
It details the need to replace the crank pulley bolt with a new one supplied by KIA. This bolt, if reused, can break causing a catastrophic engine failure. Do not buy any other bolt., it's not worth trying to save a few pennies.I have a 2005 Sorento and had my local KIA dealer do this job and other work as long as the front cover is off, replace the water pump, the timing belt idlers and tensioner assembly. It's cheaper to d all that at one time than to go back and have to redo the cover removal. Hope this helps.

How much to change timing belt on kia sorento 2006

This all depends on what engine you have and also if you are going to just do the belt.
this car , if you have a 100,000 miles or close you should do the job right, right meaning replace the timing belt ,water pump and timing belt pulleys and tensioner, this could run about $1200.00.

the same job with the smaller engine could be $800.00

if you just do the belt alone which is not the right way but can be done then it may cost about $500.00 -$600.00

How is the best way to replace a serpentine belt on a 2005 kia sorento

First remove the engine plastic cover by removing the bolts that hold in. Then loosen the nuts at the front of the AC Belt and Power Steering Belt. Now use a Socket set and loosen these two belts by turning the tension adjustment bolt, Anti-Clockwise.

You have to remove the first two belts (AC & Power Steering) before reaching the Serpentine Belt.

Now loosen the nut on the front of the lowest pulley before loosening the serpentine belt.

To loosen the serpentine belt, you could either remove the metal skid plate at the bottom of the engine by turning the tension adjustment bolt, Anti-Clockwise or reach down from the top and loosen it with the socket set ( quick & easiest)

At what mileage should the timing belt on my kia sorento 2005 be changed?

the factory calls for every 60,000 miles, do not go over this mileage, if the belt breaks the valves will hit the pistions and u have a huge and expensive repair.

When should i change the timing belt on my kia sorrento 2005 i have 53k miles it runs great.

The recommended replacement interval in 60k miles for normal service, less for severe duty. Its not like the belt is going to fail at exactly 60k miles so if you go over it's ok. Having said that the engine in your Kia is an interference engine. What that means is that if the belt does fail it very likely to be expensive. A rebuild at least and more probably an engine replacement.

In an interference engine when the belt fails there is not enough room between the still moving pistons and the suddenly still valves so the piston destroys the valves and usually itself.

So just play it safe, when you get 60k miles schedule the replacement.

How much does it cost to replace a broken timing belt on a 2005 kia sorento

Not much but what happened to the engine when it broke is a lot. Doesn't always destroy a motor but often bends and warps thing. The cost of the new timing belt should be the least of your worries.
