I change an ingition n a 2004 Honda Civic. Got the part from a Honda dealer and came with keys. Now car wont start up. It turns over but wont start.Does it need to be reprogramed?
No, you just need to ONLY replace the cylinder and if the new key has a chip in it get a copy made and use that one with your old master key held next to it to start the car.

No, you don't have to take the wheel off. Just have to take the cover off between the wheel and the dash. Once that's off, then you will have access to the ignition. The only thing is, when you get your new ignition in, you will have to take it to a Honda dealer and have the ignition and key coded together. It will save you some money to put it in yourself, but you will have to tow it wherever the closest dealer is for you.
That has to be done with the special scanner called a Tech2 at the dealer, the scanner allows for an interface to be established with the security module for reprogramming, so sorry you can't do this at home.
remove the steering wheel and turn signal switch and you will see a torx or allen head screw where the switch is located remove it and wsitch comes out!! if ya lost the key go to a lock smith and he should be able to cut a key from your vin dealer can usually do this also that is if ya lost ur key
