SOURCE: window dropped into rear door panel. How do I remove the panel & repair

the window regulator has failed. the door panel has to be removed first which requires removing the trim piece that is on the grab handle (extremely hard to remove without breaking) there are three of four screws that hold the door panel on. once the door panel is off, the vapor barrier has to be removed. don't tear it, it is there for a reason to keep water out of the vehicle. make sure you reseal it properly with window weld. once the vapor barrier is removed you will need to unclip the window glass from the regulator. i typically will take and break the tab that holds the window. once the window is loose, move the glass all the way to the top of the door. now remove the regulator, swap the motor over, and reassembly. i would recommend taking the vehicle to a bmw dealership, around $650 for the complete repair and the dealership will stand behind their repairs

SOURCE: window motor expired.

If you look very closely, the motor does unscrew from the regulator. However, getting the regulator is a bi***. Remove all the bolts to loosen the regulator and carefully work it around towards the biggest opening. The neumatic little hose is bendable, but be careful. Prior to doing this, remove a switch from another door to elimate a faulty switch. The plug comes down from above. You need to stick your hand inside the door well to find it. If you need the regulator too. just go down to the junk yard and practice removing the motor and regulator.

BMW rear left hand side tail light and flasher not working also drivers window not working

The electric window could either be the fuse, switch, or window regulator motor at fault..Sometimes the window motor electric plug can vibrate loose or become loose from door slamming..Also the switch can become loose as well or contamination if you are lucky..You will have to remove door panel to inspect these components..and fuse panel..The light could be a faulty bulb..Check and replace bulb..before involving the signal indicator switch lever...If bulb is at fault go ahead and change bulbs at both rear sides..Do not try to repair signal switch because of air bag..If you can hold down on the turn signal switch and it works the switch is at fault...

Window does not lift drivers door

The window regulators in e46s are notorious for failure.
Often, you can fix them with zip ties. Failing that, replacing the regulator is not too hard.
Disconnect the battery before starting to remove the door panel because there is an air bag in the door panel.
Pry up the trim strip starting from the rear. Remove all the screws that hold on the door panel. One of them is hiding beneath the mirror control button. Pry the switch up out of the door to find the screw.
DO NOT connect the battery and turn on the key while the air bag is unplugged.
Once you can see the regulator, you may be able to see where the cable has broken loose from the regulator. You may be able to zip tie it back in place. I did that several years ago on my wife's '04 330 and it is still working.
You can get a window regulator for this car on Amazon.com for $50 or you can get a BMW regulator for $150. Since we know that the BMW part is crappy, the $50 aftermarket part from Amazon might be worth a try.

Window damage

Sounds like the window regulator inside the door has failed. If you feel confident enough remove the door pad and take a look. Alternatively get your local mechanic to take a look for you it is not a major job.
