You can pick up a direct fit bolt on cat for $480 from carid.com and do it yourself. Or there are weld on cats for around $150. If you do not have any experience doing that, you will need to go to a shop. Most places are around $100 an hour.

SOURCE: The check engine light stays

its easy too replace but you need too reset your cmputer first too see if the light stays out before you go and buy the egr valve
disconnect the pos side of the battery for 5 min that will reset the computer,if the light comes back on then get the egr valve then you will have too reset it again

You can remove the egr and see if it has been sealing, and if it still moves.

What size and how many heated o2 sensors are on a 2004 ford freestar sel?

The 2004 Ford Freestar SEL is equipped with a V6 engine, and it typically has two heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) due to its dual exhaust system. These sensors are also commonly referred to as oxygen sensors or O2 sensors. The specific details may vary depending on the exact engine and exhaust configuration of your vehicle.
  1. Bank 1 Sensor 1 (B1S1): This is the upstream oxygen sensor located before the catalytic converter on the side of the engine where cylinder 1 is located. It monitors the oxygen content in the exhaust gases before they enter the catalytic converter.
  2. Bank 2 Sensor 1 (B2S1): This is the upstream oxygen sensor located before the catalytic converter on the side of the engine where cylinder 2 is located. Similar to B1S1, it monitors the oxygen content in the exhaust gases before they reach the catalytic converter.
These sensors play a crucial role in monitoring the air-fuel mixture and helping the engine control module (ECM) adjust fuel delivery for optimal performance and emissions.
Please note that vehicle specifications can vary, and it's always best to refer to your vehicle's owner's manual or consult with a qualified mechanic to get accurate and specific information about the number and location of oxygen sensors in your particular 2004 Ford Freestar SEL.

1999 Ford Contour SVT. I need to replace all my catalytic converters on my car.

Do you have a performance problem or an emission problem? Who is telling you your cats are bad and need to be replaced? Of course the average converter lasts about 10 years so yours could be not as effective now as they were new. Any good muffler shop can replace them.

You need to find out which oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, your vehicle could have 2 or 3. They are located in the exhaust system either in the exhaust manifold or the exhaust pipe before the catylitic converter and one after the catalytic converter. http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2005,freestar,3.9l+v6,1430707,exhaust+&+emission,oxygen+(o2)+sensor,5132 Where is the o2 sensor on 2005 ford freestar 3 9

Code2272??

This is a 02 sensor stuck lean code. lots of reasons for this code. Only solution is to get it to a shop. The longer you wait the more damage you will do to your catalytic converter then you will set a code for it and have to replace it also.

Errors concerning engine light on mentioning catalytic converter fault

All catalytic converters have a life time warranty, however, a shop will charge you $200 per converter or more, depending on how many are on the vehicle. Had to replace 4 on my 1996 mercury. If you have access to a cutting torch its easy to remove the converters and to replace. May want to rent one if you intent to do the job yourself. However, doing the job yourself may void the warrant on any more converters.

Leak in Exhaust Manifold after catalytic converter replacement.

it depends if they took the manifold off to do the cat converter job
If they did it is their repair cost as the job was not completed properly
if that was not necessary then they may have broken the flex bit just from the manifold
