Sound like you have lost presure switch that is supposed to relive presure when presure is high or the belt is too tight putting presure on the bearing causing over heat or oil cooler restricted and not coolling the oil

SOURCE: ''check engine light'' illuminated, 1004 Hyundai, Santa Fe

If you live in the US, take it to qany Auto Zone store and thy will read the codes off for you, I would suspect any right thinking competitor would do the same, check if you don't have one near by.

Hope this is of some help.

SOURCE: WHICH POWER STEERING FLUID TO USE IN 2003 HYUNDAI

You must use the fluid type stipulated by the vehicle manufacturer as there are different specs for different vehicles.

The specification for power steering fluid should be listed in your owners manual. You can then purchase a quality brand at that spec.

If you don't have the owners manual ring the dealer service department or parts department and they will give you the correct specification for your particular model.

2003 Hyundai Santa fe, pump changed 3 times, last time Hyundai pump, reservoir, Hyundai fluid and both high and low pressure hoses. cooler is clear and flows free. Still have a whine.

if you are talking power steering system, the whine is a vibration in a problem control valve and could be in the steering valves on the rack

2004 Hyundai Santa Fe - power steering fluid leak. Can't identify the hose or metal piping the leak is coming from. Not sure if I need to replace the pump as well. Would like to see a diagram of it....

Not with a diagram. Clean all the hoses and the pump so that everything is easy to see. Start the engine and get someone to put a little pressure on he steering. You should be able to find the leek.

Power steering pump in noisy when first started when cold, 2004 santa fe 3.5, has 62000 miles

Try flushing the fluid, which you should be
doing every 3 years
Add a bottle of Lubgard for power steering or
what ever the dealer has
Use the correct MFG Fluid

Eventually you will replace the pump,
when you can no longer stand the noise.

Then steering rack most likely is about to fail
from not changing the fluid and is causing stiffness
and high pressure thus the noise

2004 Hyundai Sante Fe has hard steering and whining at low idle. Changed Power steering pump and reservoir, and rack and pinion, flushed system. No change

HI check your power steering oil pump reservoir filter screen this seats at the bottom of reservoir is probably plug .it can cause the pump to aerate if thats your case replace reservoir.for proper inspection of reservoir completely empty it and check. hope this helps.
