Like to locate fuel switch engine turns not getting gas

Oh, Hi David it's either fuel or spark... To check for spark just pull a spark plug lead off a spark plug and plug the spark plug lead onto a SPARE spark plug, Now earth it to the CLEAN motor or body (make sure the spark plug is touching metal) Turn the motor over using the ignition, If the spark plug doesn't spark then it could be coil... If it's sparking then you have a fuel problem, The fuel pump is usually in the fuel tank BUT I have no idea about the year, make or model number your car is....CHEERS..

No fuel in one cylinder 1998 ford ranger

Either has a bad injector or the wiring to that particular injector has been pinched or skinned and grounded somewhere.

Will not start but turns over

Fuel or spark plug trouble could be a cause for an engine not starting. Check for spark plug spark. Remove spark plug wire and see if the wire makes a spark on engine when spark plug wire is energized. Do not tounch engine or come in contact so that you are shocked when testing for spark plug action. Check fuel pump to see if fuel is being supplied. Disconnect fuel line and place the fuel line inside a container to capture fuel. Do not cause a fire from loss of control of fuel line during trouble shooting.

No spark no fuel

when there is no spark there will not be fuel most the time
THE ECU cut fuel when it see 3 forms of lost spark.
find no spark reason. at all spark plugs and coil,
did you do the check light test,? CEL flash tests.
insert jumper wire.
crank for 5 seconds
the flash codes (3 above) flash out telling you why spark is bad.
all cars 1988 to now USA.

for get fuel
fix spark and bingo fuel happens.
if fuel dont happen, with spark the try test fuel.
if test fuel fails with spark the cam belt threw or slipped and
the compression is now way below 150PSI ,wot.

91 toyota v6 is not firing

ok , (killed?)
there are 6 spark plugs, it will take all 6 firing to run
are all 6 sparking, called a spark test.
BTW1, the ECU will not inject fuel if it even suspects spark is bad.
it has 3 monitors for spark, if one dies, fuel is cut and in many case
the fuel pump too, all cars. (fire safety)
so SPARK is first.
  1. check spark? if spark is dead.
  2. then Insert the diagnostic jumper clip (paper clip )
  3. in to the check terminal.
  4. and then crank for 5 seconds.
  5. Got DTC errors (flash codes) for CMP, or CKP dead? or spark dread codes. ? BINGO?
  6. The ECU will tell you most times if spark is bad. and why.
ever do a 60,000 mile tune up in the last decade?
if not , maybe now is that magic moment?
fuel can burn weak or no spark.
the 60k also nets you a new fuel filter .
check spark directly at the the coil too....not just the 6 spark wires.
if the coil sparks and not the 6 that means the cam belt slipped.
(hard to believe a chain can but see 2 like that, owner was deaf)

if you have spark, then test fuel works
spary it in now.
verrrommmmmmmm stall.
?
that means the fuel pressure is low.
if you get this far,the rest is easy, ask.

No fuel delivery when trying to start the car the car isnt getting fuel

what year?
ok no fuel, my guess is you peaked down all spark plug holes?

on all EFI cars, when there is no spark the ECU cuts ALL fuel injections. so spark is first.
and it is possible for the ECU to see no spark when spark is in fact perfect, this is called spark read back. or tachometer signal.
this magic works different on every car, made.

but the first test is spark, not FUEL .

I have a 1988 suburban 1500 4x4 5.7 liter v8. I replaced fuel pump and filter, will start and run for about 10 seconds then die and will not restart. Not getting fuel somehow. Injectors were also replaced....

Most likely it is the fuel pressure regulator..also check for spark here's some info for you.. The first thing to do is check for spark.

Disconnect #1 ignition wire at the spark plug.
Install a spark tester into the end of the spark plug boot.
Have an assistant crank the engine over and check for spark at the tester.
Repeat this process at each spark plug.
If any cylinder does not show spark, proceed to secondary component tests.
If ALL secondary components show no spark, test components individually.
If all cylinders test O.K., inspect for fouled spark plugs and clean or replace as necessary.

If spark checks out good, then you could have a fuel delivery problem. I would recommend to start by checking fuel pressure. Fuel injected cars are very fuel pressure sensitive. Fuel pressure is very important and must be within specifications! But if the pressure is low, it does not mean the pump is bad. A plugged fuel filter, a pinched line, and low voltage at the pump can contribute to low fuel pressure. All three must be check before replacing the pump! You can get a fuel pressure gage at a local auto parts store for cheap.

Fuel pressure testing is frequently overlooked but it is one of the common causes of poor performance. The test procedure must include testing that will insure normal
fuel pressure under all operating conditions.

Key Factors

1. Fuel demands are low at idle.

2. Wide open throttle at high engine revs uses the most fuel.

3. Port injection fuel pressure must be reduced when manifold vacuum is high. Vacuum pulls fuel out of the injector causing it to deliver too much fuel if the pressure remains high. Manifold vacuum is used to open the pressure regulator at a lower pressure when vacuum is high.2010-08-21_175858_1.gif

Not getting any spark or fuel pressure

If there is no fuel pressure then its not getting fuel.If its not getting fuel, then getting spark is rare/.-------- So the problem relates to faulty fuel pump and clogged fuel filter.------- It is possible that the fuel filter is clogged. If you're real careful you can inject a small amount of fuel in the air intake and see if the engine fires. (you can also spray starter fluid in the air-intake) If it does, you know you have a fuel issue; if it does not it could be an ignition issue. The air-intake is the best place to inject the fuel. ---------- Get the voltage checked at spark plugs and also check the coils. The spark plugs gets power to spark from coil pack.If the coils are faulty, the spark plugs will not spark. If coil is checked ok, then problem is spark plugs itself, causing the problem.--------- It has to be replaced. This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Car wont start i have a new battery, new spark plugs and wires

It need to have fuel and sparks to start.
Have you check to see if there is spark after all new parts?
If there is spark, then check if it has fuel.

To check spark, hold 1 spark plug touching engine chasis while cranking, if there is no spark then problem with the coils or ignition module.
To check fuel, after cranking several times but no firing, take out a spark plug to see if it wet.
If it is dry then no fuel. For this, problem could be following in order:
-Fuel filter
-Fuel pump
-Fuel pressure regulator
- Fuel injectors
- Fuel injector module.
Need to go through troubleshooting step by step before changing the parts to correct a problem. Good luck in finding a good mechanic to test before spending money in costly partts replacement.
