SOURCE: 2005 Dodge Caravan with Dead Battery. Replaced

Disconnect battery from vehicle overnight to check for internal battery drain.......just take one of the cables off.
If the battery is still up and starting the vehicle after being disconnected after a day or two......the drain IS in the vehicle and will have to be checked again.
Do it yourself.
Buy a cheap 12 volt test light.
Place it between the cable you removed before.
One end on the battery post and the other on the cable end.
Now....with the key off......
If the light glows brightly....you have TOO MUCH drain.
We want a dim glowing light.
The dim light is just the memory circuits in the electronics and OK.

With the doors closed....take out one fuse at a time until the light glows dim.......the fuse that dims the light is the problem circuit.
If no fuse dims the light...remove relays one at a time.
Remember....some fuses and relays could be in the engine compartment and under the dash.
If no relay dims the light disconnect ALL alternator wires.
Remember....anything that uses power will make the light glow ....keep those doors closed (we do not want interior light drain affecting the test ) and if you have a under hood light check it first by removing the bulb.
We do not want false readings.

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge Caravan won't start...just a clicking noise...

Check the battery first. Just because the lights are on doesn't mean it has enough power to start the van. If you or the van has a volt meter, the battery should read at least 13-14 volts to be good. If the battery is good then the alternator is good and we move on to the starter solenoid. I'm sure it's one of these. Do the lights go off or very dim when you turn the key? If so then battery.

Testimonial: "Thank so very much! It was the battery and easily fixed with a new duralast from AutoZone!"

SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan battery light is on.

The alternator has a bad diode in the diode bridge in the alternator, this turns the light on,even though the alternator checks good, and is charging correctly, there is a bad diode, this diode ,along with others, changes ac voltage to dc voltage,if not replaced,it will start causing components to go out.

I have a 1991 dodge caravan/3 liter v6 engine.I have replaced the alternator and the battery but after about 24 hours its dead again.how do I fix this?

You have a parasitic drain somewhere. We have an almost identical model at work and we have an ignition problem where you can remove the key in accessory position which leaves some of the electronics on and drains the battery. Faulty light switch, interior light left on?

Battery light on followed by other lights then died

check the wire from alternator to the battery and make sure its not loose on alternator. happened to me a few years ago, forgot to tighten wire to alternator. car lights on dash came on and car quit while driving. just make sure you are getting at least 14 volts at battery while its running, good-day !

The battery keeps dying on my 1991 accord i have already changed the alternator out ?

It sounds like you may have a short in the electrical system. Something is causing a draw on the battery.
Have you recently installed any "add ons" or a new stereo? If not, if you know how to use a test light email me back and I will talk you through how to diagnose which circuit is the culprit? If you recently made changes to your alarm or stereo oull the fuse and see if battery remains vharged.

I sounds like you need to get your alternator tested. That is a very common issue and im sure that its the culprit.

1991 Dodge Grand Caravan dies while driving won't restart

If it sputters or hesitates while driving I would suggest a new fuel filter. If it runs smoothly and just dies out you may have a fuel pump which needs to be replaced because it is going bad. If fuel pump relays or other types of relevant fuses are blown it would not start at all. Your mechanic could also pull a spark plug and check for a blueish white high voltage spark if it has an orange or reddish tint that would denote a lower voltage spark normally from a worn out coil pack, spark plug, plug wire etc. Through advanced engine diagnostics you can have your vehicle connected to an oscilloscope or a cylinder dwell meter which can cancel out spark to each cylinder to check for function. However your best bet may be the fuel pump, if your vehicle dies again check to see if your vehicle is getting any fuel first then you'll know for sure.
