If you break a timing chain or belt it's high possibly you could of detonated the engine, which includes a great deal of damage including bend broken valves which would definitely prevent the vehicle from starting being it can not get the proper combustion
When repairing you cars timing chain , remember to research your cars firing order before you start . You can pick up a mechanical car model book at your local parts dealer . More? ChaCha.
Yes ,there is a lengthy proceedure to time both chains. I have the shop manual, and no way to scan it and send it to you. It looks worse than timing the V8,you just don't need a couple hundred worth of tools,as you do with most Ford OHC Engines

I would get the procedure first, then study the engine and take pictures, as you disassemble,only as you ID what is on the assy sheets.
It looks like your only expense ,will be a sharpe,to mark chain links and a paper clip, to hold off the chain tensioners.
