Car stalling, choking, problems with running worse after taken to shop

Was stalling, chugging(like choking) checked fuel line, changed fuel filter and all spark plugs, was a little better, thought might be fuel pump, took to a shop, they only replaced voltage or fuel regulator, charged arm and leg, came back with check engine light on all the time, now stalls when driving, slowing, stopping and runs worse than before. afraid now to take it in for fuel pump fix as that was even more expensive..ready to scrap the car

Need to check for fault codes. Possibly a faulty sensor causing the fuel system to run rich or lean.

SOURCE: 1987 Buick Lesabre T stalling and running rough

I just had the same problem. Replaced the fuel filter, still crappy idle and no acceleration. I replaced the fump pump along with the wiring harness and the fuel pump screen and my cars purrs like a kitten, has back to normal acceleration and idles better than before. Hope this is some sort of help to you. I did it myself. Total cost, a little over $120. Good luck. By the way, your fuel pump should be pushing out about 65 lbs of pressure. is it ???

Only when it's cold my car will stall out over and over when it is first started. If I take off too soon it will chug until it warms up and then runs fine. Any suggestions are greatly appriciated!!!

check the fuel pressure it could be a bad fuel pump, also check or replace the fuel filter if it has not been changed in a long time.another thing it could be is the maf sensor may be dirty or have a problem when cold.you will have to have a shop look at it to see if the readings are within spec.

Please Help!!! Replaced ECM and truck immediately dies

Have checked the idle air control valve. If stuck closed it will not allow air to bypass the throttle therefore it will start and stall.

2000 Impala ls car runs fine when first start.

Check the pvc valve hose that goes to the intake. Where the hose goes to the intake, there is a thin rubber elbow that like to wear a hole into it causing a big vaccuum leak.

You could have gotten bad gas in your tank. Did you try dry gas at all? Also, bad gas can leave alot of sediment at the bottom of your tank, waiting for the right movement to get moving into your system. A new filter would only get quickly clogged again. I had this happen- got gas from a station after a flood- fuel tank had to be dropped and cleaned out.
