SOURCE: I have a 1984 corvette,

go under the dash above the clutch pedal (u may have to remove the hush panel on bottom of dash to see it) and check the clutch safety switch (locks out starter unless clutch is depressed), there should be 12 volts in and 12 volts out of the switch with the pedal depressed and the key held to start/crank position, if not jump the switch connector until u can install a new one.

SOURCE: put new battery in 89 corvette now will not turn

THERE IS A NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH ON THE SHIFT LEVER, UNDER THE PLASTIC. THE PURPLE WIRE & OR THE YELLOW WIRE SHOULD HAVE POWER WHEN YOU TUN THE KEY TO START. THERE IS A ANTI THEFT MODULE BEHIND RIGHT SIDE OF DASH THAT MAY OR NOT BE A PROBLEM. THE TROUBLE MAY BE A BLOWN FUSIBLE LINK WIRE. THERE IS AT LEAST ONE AT THE STARTER, SOME AT THE POS. BATTERY TERM. SOME AT THE JUMP START JUNCTION. THESE THINGS ARE SHORT WIRES, THAT ACT AS FUSES. THEY ARE USUALLY THICK INSULATION, SMALL WIRE INSIDE. PULL ON THEM ONE AT A TIME IF THEY STRETCH OR COME APART THERE IS THE PROBLEM. REPAIR OR REPLACE AS NEEDED. I WOULD START WITH THE FUSIBLE LINK AT THE STARTER.

4 speed manual transmission clutch start problem

There should be two switches on your clutch pedal that interrupt the starter. If both of those prove to be working, then look at the starter relay.

I take it that it cranks over but will not start. Spray some starter fluid into the throttle body. If it runs, you have a fuel problem. You may have disconnected the fuel system by unplugging a connector or grounding a wire blowing a fuse.

Hello I have a 89 F150 4.9 inline 6 5 speed manual 4X4. The only way i can start it is by rolling it off. It has a new starter, solenoid, and good battery. All electrical works when key is turned on it...

Most likely is the clutch inhibit switch, the switch is on the rod that goes from the clutch pedal to the the clutch master cylinder.Could be a bad ignition switch but that is rare. The clutch switch is designed to keep the vehicle from cranking without the clutch engaged.Make sure the floor mat is not wadded up under the pedal.

1998 Corvette - 51K When I let the clutch fully out the engine shuts down. Happens in reverse and first gear (I'm assuming 2-6 as well).

this sounds like a clutch problem mostlikely the preasure plate is broken and jaming the clutch system, i would start by remove the trany and checking the clutch out.
