Hi, My 97 Lumina won't start. It turns over but never "catches" and starts. I don't hear a noise when I turn key to on position. I need to know how and where to cut a hold in back under seat to get to the fuel pump. What side will it be on? What would I use to cut the hole? I am worried about a spark igniting the gas tank. I don't have any money to pay a mechanic so I'll have to do this myself.

My friend has a 97' lumina had same problem...it was the fuel pump..most gargages charged about $400 for the part..however we found it online at autopartswharehouse.com for around $200..alot cheaper, but then had to pay $150 for labor...so it ended up costing $350 but still cheaper...i think you have to drop the gas tank to get to the pump...from what i understand a pain in the ***.

Usually it is easier to lift the rear of the vehicle and put it up on stands and drop the tank from underneath then cut the hole in the body i would never recommend doing that.
