SOURCE: valve cover gasket leaking

When you buy the valve cover set, it will include the spark plug well "O" rings. Simply remove the valve cover and on the underside of the valve cover, you'll see the "O" rings that need replaced and you'll see exactly how the valve cover gasket itself fits.

I would try snugging down all the valve cover bolts before replacing anything. A valve cover gasket kit should have the grommets and gaskets necessary to repair this if you find no loose bolts.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Nissan

Yes, you need a Rocker cover (valve cover) Gasket kit. Remove the valve cover, remove all old O-rings and cover gasket, clean grooves and mating surfaces without gouging or scratching them, put the new gaskets on as per factory recommendations, tighten to the proper torque and you're done. The spark plug holes in the cover are part of the valve cover gasket kit. Any Napa, Car Quest, Pep Boys, Auto Zone will have it.

2007 ford explorer sport trac 4.0 v6 all 3 spark plugs on passenger side are coated in oil doesn't smoke 2nd set of plugs in 3 months driver side plugs are fine im tired of guessing anyone know?

comment exactly what you mean when you say --covered in oil
1-- is they covered in oil on the outside around the insulator and wires/ coils
2-- are the center electrodes black with oil and misfiring
if it the outside then replace the rocker cover gasket or if the plugs are recessed into the rocker cover , replace the oil seal under the plug tube in the rocker cover

2001 mitsubishi montero limited light on service engine soon 110000 milege burning smell from engine oil ok transmission oil ok coolant ok

look hard around your valve cover or your spark plugs holes especially #3 and #5. i found mine on 3 and 5 spark plugs. oil sometimes drip down to hot eng and smell like burn oil. possibility your valve cover that seal your spark plug hole is worn out and leak around the valve cover and straight down to hot area. replacing valve cover gasket is not easy and if you take it shop will cost you over $1000.00 because of intake manifold and a lots of hardwares to remove. shop around before you take it to the shop. if you do it your self with a friend make sure you take picture for every lines ,bolts sensor plugs and so on you remove. also may as well tune up or change your spark plugs. good luck

1987 190e Mercedes shooting oil from valve cover in to air cleaner area.

Could be a couple of things.

1st the valve cover gasket is shot because its old.
2nd blocked oil breather is causing high oil pressure which blew the gasket mentioned above.

Replace the gasket 1st and see what happens.

Oil around spark plugs on 1992 honda accord

Yes the oil can cause the car to lose spark, the oil leak could be caused by the valve cover gaskets around the spark openings, but 9 times out of 10 it is the spark plug tube "O" rings. The top of the valve train comes off of the head, the "O" rings are between the two halves, that will fix the oil leak.

Spark plugs

Who ever told you it was the Valve cover gaskets was correct. On the valve cover gasket around where the spark plug goes down though the head there is a seal made onto the valve cover gasket called the spark plug well seals. when replacing the valve cover gasket it will come with these seals and it will take care of your oil leaking into spark plug holes. Hope this has helped and if you need anymore assistance I would love to help.
