You just need to replace the sensors. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. If you don't feel comfortable working on an expensive transmission, take it to the dealer.

Being that it is a 02, and this is the first time you have had this problem, I doubt reprogramming would do anything. Reprograms/reflashes usually happen within the first 3yr/36k. The Sensors should come from the dealer. Not 100% sure about your model, but most speed sensors screw/bolt on from the outside. Some, not all require the valve body to be dropped to get to them. If it has been over 30K, you should have your fluid changed as well.

2000 hyundai accent with error codes p0717 and p1529

P0717 - Input/Turbine Speed Sensor "A" Circuit No Signal
P1529 - Customer Snap Shot Request

  • NOTE_P1529 is a generic code which is issued by the TCU to tell the ECU to turn on the CEL. It means nothing by itself and is usually included with other TCU codes.

Codes p0722 and p0717 what is the problem?

p0722 stands for output speed sensor, this sensor might be in need of replacement, p0717 is for transmission turbine speed sensor, P0717 code comes with the following symptoms: engine cutting out, misfire and hard start after the engine is warmed up. check the coil plugs which is the equivalent of spark plugs except it does not have any plug wires. Start with the mileage and if the engine has over 100k miles, usually the coil plugs are worn. You can check it by checking the coil plug wells on the valve cover. If soaked with oil, the coil plug is normally shot and this goes the same for the valve cover gasket. Apparently, when the valve cover leaks oil, it is deposited in the coil plug well and starts shorting the coil plugs because of the contaminated oil. Note: when changing coil plugs, always replace them ALL as a set.

P1529- TCM MIL request signal failure

All these together indicate a possibly cut wiring harness failure, or other major circuit issue.
