Have you changed the fuel filter, sometimes it is the most obvious things we don't check or change

SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Durango will start from a jump.

replace the battery, on a dodge when battery is weak the idle air control solenoid tries to search for the right position. and will keep stalling sometimes wont stay running.

Sounds right & check manual for warranty guidelines for your emission system & components, sometimes they are a little longer than 40,000 I believe.

SOURCE: 2001 dodge durango, when the weather is real cold

have the ECT checked,
Engine coolant temperature, lets the computer know whether it should push more fuel thru for cold mornings ,
the sensor could be telling the computer that your engine temp is 75 degrees, means less fuel being pushed

No start on a 93 dodge dakota 3.9

You need twice that fuel pressure to properly fire the injectors

2001 Durango 4.7l wont run I can get it to fire but barely and with lots of cranking and have to hold the accelerator to the floor. Can get max 800rpm.Eventually dies on its own.

That engine is famous for blowing headgasket and the symptoms you describe are consistent with that. Have a compression test run on all cylinders to confirm this is the issue.

Will not start, flooded

Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and keep it there! Now turn over the vehicle, it will try to start and eventually will fire up, when that happens release the accelerator pedal and it should be all good!

When hot will randomly not start unless gas pedal is pressed all the way down. on a 2001 honda crv. replaced fule pump, fuel relay, fuel filter, dist. cap, rotor, coil, plugs, wires, and ignition control

If you hold the pedal to the floor it puts the fuel system into Clear Flood Mode. This prevents the injectors from firing and lets the already present fuel burn out. Now if this has to be done on every short trip you probably have a leaking injector.

Does the vehicle seem to crank slowly or stop and then crank when this happens?

How to start flooded engine

Have you tried waiting a few minutes and then, without pumping, holding the gas pedal to the floor while cranking? That has worked with older cars.

My 2001 dodge Durango 4.7 is not getting any fire to the starter when I turn the switch started a slow drag now nothing

Are you sure about the "no fire'? Have you tried to jump start? Turning over slowly then slower is a sign the battery is low...check alternator and belt...If the "no fire" is present...it leans toward being the "crank position sensor"...Hope this helps.

1997 ford contour

hold pedal to floor and it tries to start ! Not sure if your vehicle has clear flood mode , Most vehicle have clear flood mode strategy programmed in the ECU , PCM ,ECM .when you hold the accelerator pedal to the floor the engine computer cuts down on the injector on time to clear a flooded engine .
Fuel pressure regulator problem ,maybe ! You say there was a blown fuel pump fuse an you replaced it ? Fuse's don't blow for no reason ? Fuel pump bad , short , too much current !
Disconnect the mass air flow sensor an see if it starts !

Chevy s-10 4cyl starts only with pedal only to floor but sputters bad and wont accelerate.

On Chevrolet fuel injected vehicles holding the accelerator on the floor during cranking activates "clear flood mode " that turns the fuel injectors off the fact that it then starts tell me that the engine is flooded or the ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor or circuit is telling the ecm the wrong temp several other causes are blown fuel pressure regulator, low fuel pump pressure, low compression or faulty coil pack

I have an issue with a 87 toyota pick up carburetor. Sometimes it doesnt want to start and sometimes it does a friend told me its that diaphram on the front of the carb with the 3 bolts but he could not...

Okay, your freind may be right, that part is called the accelerator pump, it is used for starting the truck, when you pump the gas to start it this pumps a few squirts of gas into the carb. what concerns me is that you hold the gas pedal to the floor to start it, most of the time an internal leaking carb floods the engine and holding the pedal down will let it start, a quick test would be to use a carb cleaner spray and before trying to start the truck hit the gas pedal and see if inside from the top of the carb look and see if you see a squirt of gas spray out, you will need some one to push the gas pedal or you can do it at the carb, if it squirts gas then the accelerator pump may be good and carb may be leaking and need rebuilding but if it doesnt squirt then its bad and then i want you to spray the carb cleaner into the carb and try to start the truck and if its due to the accel pump then after you spray into carb the truck should fire up and run without having to hold the pedal to the floor, if thats the case then replace accel pump if it still doesnt fire until you hold gas down then crab needs rebuilding . good day. hope this is helpful.

1999 dodge durango will crank but will not start

w/fuel inj. don't pump gas. hold to floor this puts comp. into clear flood mode shutting off injectors to purge excess gas from cylinders. do this for 10-15secs at a time. should almost start by 3rd time if not let sit for while try again look else where if this dosen't work
