03 corolla fan not working with ac on or with high temp

The fan does not come on, I put a new fan in it, bench test ok. I can jump the fan relays and get it to work. I checked the relays and they are good. WHat would be a common fault that would cause both modes ( ac and high temp) to not work?

Check all the terminals voltage whether are all the same as your
main battery terminal. I mean the voltage(s) of the fan socket and
the relay main sockets. If any one of the terminals' voltage is less,
the fan won't work. So check the wire line for any resistance that
create and bring down the voltage.

My brake light on my 1990 geo, Right side did the same thing. It was the ground wire on the light itself. It had gotten hot and was not getting good contact, so I put a small bolt with a nut on it thru the plastic light panel to help it make contact to the ground.

AC units in vehicles are sensative components. It is highly recommended that a certified mechanic recharge or repair your system. As I recommend to others for system problems and malfunctions, I suggest taking your car to a mechanic or local auto parts store and have a diagnostics test done to determine what this problem (if any) is found. It may just be the switch in the swtich board behind the dash. You mentions a noise and a smell, which to me, indicates that the compressor (AC pump) is now faulty, however this will only be determined upon diagnosis by a certified mechanic.

SOURCE: ac on 97 Camry not working,no power to compressor

AC systems have a pressure switch that prevents compressor from engaging when freon is low.auto parts stores sell a kit includes a hose W/a gauge & a can of freon.look for the one w/dye in it to show if you have a leak.

My 97acura is still overheating put new water pump in took thermostat out flushed radiator replaced cap only 1fan works what do I do

Two stage fan. Second fan only kicks on at a higher temp or when under a load (like ac is on). Have a compression test done on each cylinder. Sounds like a possible blown headgasket/cracked head.

I have a 2002 Lincoln town car and I just put a brand new fan in and its not coming on my car runs hot when I have it in park with the ac on

Did you check the fan relays ? There are two, cooling low relay an cooling fan high relay . The relays are turned on by the vehicles PCM - engine computer , when an input from the coolant temp. sensor indicates a certain temperature ! When you turn on your A/C the cooling fan should turn on an stay on .

Cooling Fan Low Relay

Do you know how to test a computer controlled relay ? Go to you tube an search relay testing . Does the temp. gauge work correctly ? I know you probably don't have a factory scan tool , but this is the where I would start , checking temp. sensor input to the PCM . An with a factory scan tool I can do bidirectional testing , see if I could turn the fans on will scan tool .

Engine fan

test the fan for proper function if its burnt anything you do will not make it work so jump power wires to the fan to see if it works you also have a temp sensor that might make the fan work as well if its defective does the temp in the car go up if you have a guage on the dash or a light comes on hot so 1- fuse ok 2- relay is a good working 3- connector at fan ok 4- fan motor working by jumping wires easy to follow diagnostics

Have you tried changing the fan relays? Sounds like they may be stuck on.

I have a 2004 chevy malibu which overheats due to the fans not coming on..i checked the actuall fans and they do come on..checked relays and coolant temp sitch and its good

if your fans come on with ac on,then your fans are OK ,coolant temp sensor, is bad, need to be changed,(that is how fan relay get it's ground,or it gets direct ground when you turn the AC on)
so if it comes on with AC on,your fans and relays are good
you can run the car with ac on till you fix the problem(it only hurts your gas millage)

95 eagle vision 3.5l......cooling fans in-op.

There are actually two relays. You may be looking at the second one. The first one turn is turned on by the pcm based on temp sensor inputs. The other is the high speed relay turned on by the ac switch. Do the fans come on when you turn the ac on? I would pull out the low speed relay and probe the relay socket with a volt/ohmmeter. Make sure the pcm is sending a ground signal to the relay when the engine reaches operating temp.

Not sure about the failure rate of the parts, but a relay is easy to test.

2000 corolla....ac problem....when the fresh air is selected, the air is cold, so I know the compressor is working, but the ac blower motor will not come on.

First check fuses for the a/c system i would then pull the blower unit out, should only be 3 screws and one plug and bench test it by putting battery juice to the two teminals in the blower motor plug. If it works properly i would then suspect the relay. FIY most vehicles have multiple relays of the same part # used, so a free way to test for a bad relay is by swapping out with say the "horn" relay if it is the same part#.

Jump air compressor ac works replace relays same issue HONDA

the compressor may be low on freopn but, the fan problem is most likely the fan motor as it is the low temp fan and will run more often than both fans...to test see if you can switch the fan plugin to the other fan watch carefully that it does not get too hot as the second fan is a safety fan that works as high temp or when using the A\C

Is there more then one temp sensor on a 1999.5 vw jetta 2.0 Litre? If so, does one control the radiator fan and another for the gauge? Can the sensor(s) be benched tested, if so, how?

the fan is computer controlled so in order to diagnose it you need a scanner to look in the computer to see what it sees. If your overheating at idle then most likely the fan relay or the fan itself failed providing the computer is ok. Try turning on the AC. If the fan does not turn on you may need a professional diagnostics to be accurate.
