How many o2 sensors in an 04 escape and location

Bank 2 o2 sensor 1 is on the back side of the engine. Simply follow the exhaust manifold nearest the firewall the first o2 is bank 2 o2 1 the next o2 will be bank 2 o2 2. The o2 you see by the radiator is bank 1 o2 1.

Bank 1 is driver side Sensor 1 is the o2 sensor that is in front of the catalytic converter or the one closest to the front of vehicle.

I will make this easy for you,assumming your
going to change them yourself

Bank 1 --is on the side of the engine that has cylinder #1
Bank 2-- is the opposite side
Sensor 1-- is the one closest to engine
Sensor 2 -at converter outlet,those don't fail as often

If you have a bad O2 Sensor, your going to change
both (2) Sensors FRONT 2 only
They are the 2 closest to the engine

O2 Sensors- failed or not, get changed,front 2 only
at 100,000 miles.

bank 1 is the passenger side and the number 2 o2 sensor or refereed to as the down stream sensor is located after the catalytic converter. heres a picture to aid you. hope this helps

Your car should have two O2 sensors. One will be located after your catalytic converter. The other one should be located before your catalytic converter somewhere between your headers and your cat. Rarely, on some vehicles, there's a 3rd O2 sensor which is located also somewhere between the catalytic converter and the headers.

B1 means the sensor is located on the same bank of the engine that has the #1 cylinder. B2 is located on the opposite bank.
S1 means the sensor is located BEFORE the catalytic converter
S2 means the sensor is located AFTER the catalytic converter

You didn't say which engine you have, so I've included the diagrams of both 4 cyl and 6 cyl so you can see the banks
