I started my 2002 Toyota Corolla and my radio turned on, but the minute I plugged something into the cigarette lighter the entire radio including the clock shut down and the lights didn't even light up. I tried starting and restarting the car a few times but the radio still won't turn on. Is this just a fuse or will I have to get an entirely new radio?

Probably the fuse that powers the cigarette lighter also powers the radio so check the cigarette lighter and socket for a short and replace the fuse.

SOURCE: The cigarette lighter on my 1995 Toyota Corolla does not work. The radio works fine. The problem started after I used an air compressor to inflate my tires. The air compressor attaches to the cigar

On the back side of the lighter there is a fusable link between the incoming power wire and the metal tab that connects power to the lighter. This is a very small wire, bent 90 degrees, between two tabs that are mounted on the same small screw. It looks like the incoming power tab and the power to the lighter would be connected, but they are insulated from each other on the screw. If the fusable link is blown, you will have power at the power connector on the back of the lighter, but no power to the center terminal inside the lighter.

Apart from the fuse cutting off you might have had some wires cut off too. Have an expert take a look at it for you.

I experienced this before.

Good luck.

You may have a short in the dash, i would have it checked by a mechanic, if it is a short it could cause a fire, so you should have it checked ASAP........

Cigrate lighter, radio and foof light does not get on even fuses ar good for toyota corolla 2001

Check these two fuses. Fuse number 31 in fuse box location 4, if cigarette lighter, radio and clock. Else fuse number 5 in fuse box location 2, if only radio and clock and not cigarette lighter.

All corollas from 2002 - 2007 usually use the following color codes.
Radio:
Blue wire with white strip is (+).
Brown wire is ground.
Cigarette lighter/ Charger:
Grey wire is (+).
White wire with Black strip is ground.
CAUTION:
Confirm the voltage with test lamp or multimeter before connecting the wires to the accessories.

I have a 1991 toyota corolla with 85,000 original miles. Ac does not work. Car sometimes will not start. It will not turn over or make any sound. The car cannot jump start. It will start after I wait 30...

All i can think of is your AC compresser if that goes out could cause it to not start what you do is unhook the belt and on the bottem left see if you can spin that wheel with ease if it dont spin or it spins and stops your compresser is bad which ranges from $200-350 if you do it yourself or take it to a mechanic

Radio, clock and lighter quit working

This is the interior fuse. The fusebox is on the left side under the dash, in front of the door. The fusebox door has a diagram identifying the fuses. Replacement fuses are available from any discount store or auto parts store. Use the correct amperage fuse.

No power to radio, cigarette lighter

This one's the fusebox in the interior of the car; usually below the steering wheel in a panel with a thumbscrew that you just give a quarter-turn, then catch it as it opens; inside are some fuses, which tend to be obvious when they are blown. There's a little legend that tends to be well-lit too, indicating which fuses were for the ligher/'auxillary 12v power' socket. Don't let a failed lighter bust on you; a flaming car is much more expensive than tossing/replacing the bad part or plugging something else in.
