How do you knowif the air pump has reindered itself inop , or switch is bad

Have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ,not engine OBD2 DTC'S .Body codes ,if you know what these are !
B0248 Mode actuator inoperative

Doesn't have to be clicking to be bad !

P0411 Chevrolet - Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow Possible causes
- Vacuum hoses damaged or pinched
- Faulty Air Pump inoperative
- Faulty Air Pump harness is open or shorted
- Faulty Air Pump circuit poor electrical connection

id check the aux drive belt sounds as if the vac pump belt or pump itself has gone bad , the waste gate from turbo is vac activated (no power) , and the brakes are vac boosted , so that leads me to believe you have a loss of vac some how

P0412 - Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve 'A' Circuit Malfunction

Possible causes- Faulty Air Pump inoperative
- Air bypass solenoid harness is open or shorted
- Air bypass solenoid circuit poor electrical connection

reset it from the switch in the trunk have code pulled from light it will tell whats wrong with system

CHECK AIR FILTER FOR RESTRICTION. A BAD SUPPLY PUMP. OUT OF FUEL. BLOCKED FUEL RETURN LINE. AIR LEAK IN SUCTION LINE. RESTRICTED FUEL FILTER. INOPERATIVE FAST IDLE. LOW IDLE SPEED AND DEFECTIVE INJECTION PUMP.THIS IS A LIST OF THINGS TO CHECK.

yes unless u want to change your air suspension to normal. i mean regular shock absorbers. usually the air lines break. or the air bags on the shocks leak air. if one is leaking the other one will never operate normally.

Could be a bad control switch, relay or connection and ground at motor itself. Since it's intermittent, check voltages when it's working, then again when it's not. Wherever voltage stops, that's what you need to replace. Don't wait on this...when completely inoperative it gets much harder to find the problem!
