SOURCE: engine cooling fan

Try the cooling fan switch, it looks like a large brass nut with wires on it on the thermostat housing or radiator.
To test, pull off the wires and connect together, turn on ignition and the fans should cut in.
If they don't it could be the relay, fuse or broken wire.
The switch is easy to replace, unscrew and rescrew in the new one. Connect the wires, not important which way the wires go, and refill coolant.

Hi, My Peugeot 3008 engine cooling fan keep running after engine switch-off.

The cooling fan has an independent temperature-controlled switch. What you are describing is normal operation.

Cooling fans running continually, loud and noisy?

any suggested fixes for this problem? Yeah , view a wiring diagram to see what all is involved in turning on the cooling fans an test with a DVOM - digital volt ohmmeter . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb/ Enter vehicle info. year make ,model an engine . Under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on cooling fans. Click the search button then the blue link . Looking at the diagram i see three relay's - fan control , high fan control , lo fan control . All three relay's are commanded on by ther PCM - engine computer . Checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's with a scan tool . Double check your work - pinched wiring etc...... check for high speed fan relay stuck contacts .

Heater and aircon not working, loud rattling noise and smoke from vent, now not power to fan

It appears your fan itself burned out. When a field coil of an electrical fan burns out it usually makes a lot of smoke. The noise could be something that fell in there that stopped the fan from turning freely. I can imagine it heated up under the strain and burned out.

When you restarted it was burnt out so hence no noise and no fan.
The smell of the smoke should also be clue. Electrical field coils burning has an awful soury type of smell.

Loud exhaust noise on startup

2008 GMC Envoy is only equipped with one of two engines:
4.2L (254") 6-Cylinder SFI
5.3L (325") V-8 SFI

Niether of these engines are equipped with an EGR valve, so I guess the probability of that being the cause of your noise is pretty much zero to none.

If you believe the noise is being caused by the exhaust ststem, then the only way to verify that is to inspect the exhaust system. Leaks are easier to verify with the engine running.

With that said, there is also a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that is published by GM that addresses customer complaints about loud noise that is being caused by the electro-viscous engine cooling fan clutch. Some people describe it as exhaust noise and others describe it as the engine "racing" or "roaring".(even though the tachometer (if equipped) will be reading normal)

It basicly says that it can make noise on startup due to high rpm of the fan which goes away once the electric solenoids open and allow the fan to start free-wheeling. GM says this is normal operation. You might want to check to be sure this is not what you are hearing. (it can be pretty loud)

03 pt cruiser turbo - cooling fan is noisy.

Most electric cooling fans are noisy. They move large volumes of air to cool the engine. You will hear this noise most predominately when the fan spools up when you are stopped at a traffic light. As long as it is working and cooling the engine I wouldn't worry about it.

When I first start the 2008 Toyota Sienna the valves sound real loud for the first 2 or 3 miles.....even sounds like a diesel engine as it starts the pull. I took it to the dealer and they said the noise...

something is restricting the flow to the valve lifters. I like Marvel Mystery Oil brand
to clean oil passage and quiet noisy lifters. may take a week of driving to notice the difference. If that doesnt help I would find another dealer that will take a little better look at the problem

Sounds like the engine is running loud. Like the engine is boring a little especially when it gets over about 45 miles per hour. It has 149,000 miles on it. Checked all fluids and they are fine and have...

a loud engine can mean a lot of things, could be worn valves piston rings etc, I myself have round the clock engine and it was noisy, but i used a can of engine restorer, and noticed with in ten minutes the difference, its expensive but on an old warn engine it had done the trick. might even help yours, it does not really matter how meany oil changes you do an engine will wear a bit, if its pulling ok with no difference then its not a really serious problem, it could just be a blowing exhaust manifold or downpipe, or even a damaged air filter. check these parts look for cracks in the manifold as these when the engine gets hot will expand, even just a tinny crack can make a loud noise. check the the manifold seal to the engine is good, good way to test the seal is water in a squeezer bottle or spray, or even just look for blow marks on the engine. also check the engine oil cap, check it for a mayo looking oil color this can be a sign that the oil is getting damp or water is getting into the oil. this can also change the sound of the engine as the oil has become contaminated, oil can have a bit of water in there but its usually heated away with engine use. i hope this items help you find your problem.

Over heating especially when the aircorn is on and losing a lot of water when it stops.

dont think the fans are coming on by the description, when ac is turned the cooling fan runs at a slower speed ,if its not turning with the ac turned on then you have a problem with the fans anything from a earth problem to a reostat or feed

I have a 2001 nissan sentra. My car fan is running and making loud noise. Also my temparture gage is going up but my car is not overheating.

small engine does take allot to overheat as long as the car stay in motions even though the cooling is not operating, if you were sitting in the heavy and stuck in traffic and the OAT is 98-100 degree with high humidity and running the AC, chances are the engine will over heat quickly. very rare the temp guage become faulty, I would to go ahead and repalce the temperature sensor which gives the guage the correct reading, if have high miles 75k or more replace thermostat which open and close when it reach proper tempature and thermostat switch which turn the cooling fan on and off. all three parts are fairly cheap to fix and replace. all three unit is very important to the engine cooling beside the oil.
