There are a total of six fuses that control exterior lights and dash lights. Check all of these Fuses: 10, 21, 3, 7, 13, 33
Does the high mount stop light work when you apply the brakes?
First locate the screws hidden above the instrument cluster . If the truck has a tilt wheel shift it downward and put the vehicle in neutral if it has an automatic trans. The outer instrument cluster bezel will then bel loose at the top. Under the lower edge of the dash there are several hex head screws holding the plastic moldings in place. Remove all of them including the two holding the brake release handle. The dash face should then pull off. There are 4 hex head screws holding the cluster into the inner dash structure. Remove those and carefully pull the cluster out and turn it toward the left side. Reach behind the cluster and unplug the connectors. The bulbs are in removable black sockets which you will turn about 1/4 turn to remove. Remove and replace the bad bulbs and reverse the above process to reassemble.
Remove lower dash trim (4 screws-2 are on the hood latch)
Remove steel dash support (5 screws)
If automatic disconnect cable for shift indicator (1 screw)
Remove instrument cluster trim (5 screws-3 top and 2 bottom)
Unplug headlight switch and dash dimmer switch
Remove 4 cluster screws and from behind unplug 3 plugs
Acess dash lights by turning black bulb holders counterclockwise
You have to remove the instrument cluster in order to replace the bulbs. This will include removing the knee panel under the steering wheel, the black trim piece in front of the instrument cluster, and possibly the trim and vents surrounding the radio, depending where the screws are located.
Some of the bulb holders may have notched the foil contacts on the board and the bulbs won't light after they are replaced. If that happens, you'll need to bend the tabs on the bulb holder slightly and use your finger nail to flatten out the dent in the foil.
It's not a quick fix, so you may want a dealer to service it. I suggest replacing your bulbs with LED's for longer life.
it shouldnt be a fuse or the entire cluster would be out. there are a bunch of little light bulbs that swrew into the back of the cluster. best way to check is to pull the cluster and switch the bulb from the gas gauge to something else and see if it works. then just get a replacement bulb from a napa or somewhere like that. it should be a very cheap fix.
for obvious reasons, it is not recommended to do so, there is no way "disable system" but you can remove instrument cluster and it has a small twist and pull light socket behind it. remove the wedge bulb from holder and reinstall holder with no bulb.
