I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner. This morning, when I put the key in the ignition, it will not turn past the ACC notch - or maybe to the ON position. I've moved the steering wheel around (to unlock it) - nothing seems to be working. EVerything turns on in the car (A/C, lights, stereo, etc.), so it's not the battery.
I have the same problem. I put some graphite down the key hole and pushed it around in there and it loosened it up a bit to the point I could turn the ignition. If you have a replacement key, start using that. It should help as well.Teeth on old key may be wearing down. Lastly, I keep a screwdriver in the car to whack against key when it's in the ignition if it's stuck. A few taps on the key will always unlock the ignition.
Or, go but a new ignition and key set....
