1999 Camaro 3800 series II automatic. Coolant in oil so entire long block was dealer replaced. Intake manifold was the original and not changed. After 300 miles noticed coolant in the oil (milkshake)and car was taken off the road for monetary reasons at the time. Changed oil and filter to get rid of the contaminated oil and now the car is in the garage (wife's car) awaiting funds to have the dealership investigate. Zero external leaks and from the exhaust there is no coolant in the heads. Can only surmise something in the intake manifold. No intake replacement from either GM or an aftermarket supplier. Am at wits end. Have just spent five grand on a new engine and it is not driveable. Any insight and advice from your end? Hep ! ! ! Thanks loads. Chris

Since you used a question mark after "engine oil", I assume that you're not too sure where the coolant is going. While it's certainly possible for the coolant to end up in your oil, you should be able to see byproducts of combustion in your coolant (a very dirty coolant) if the head gasket is leaking. It could also force coolant out of your overflow as you drive, but not while you are sitting idle, making it hard to actually see if this happening to your coolant. Check your coolant for signs of this "blow-by". If your engine is losing power, you might want to do a cylinder balance check.

This is a common problem with this engine. The gaskets between the intake manifold and the heads need to be replaced. This will require other gaskets, seals and o-rings. Fel-pro makes a intake gasket kit that comes with everything "gaskets and seals" in it. Ask for the perma-dry gasket if available.
