Check the harmonic balancer
if it is soaked with oil, it will slip and change the timing

also check spark plugs and wires
to check the wires find a dark location(no light)
and run engine ,look for sparks

All the dash lights come on when I turn the key .The engine won't crank and the security light keeps flashing thank you 1994 bonneville

This is either your starter, or could be your ignition switch. Both are decently priced, but can be labor costly at a shop. About 2 to 3 hours for either one.

Bonneville wont start

Check your battery cables,, they are probably loose or corroded. Side mount batteries that hold multiple cables have this problem that occurs over an extended period of time. Cleaning the connections and retightening the hold down bolt may fix it. Sometimes a 3/8 bolt and a washer with a nut can be used to get
a more positive holding force to keep the cable tight.
