It is more likely the starter relay which is unfortunately part of the starter. If the battery is good and you hear no noise when you turn the key(especially a clicking sound) it is a safe assumption to say the starter is probably toast. good luck
Yes...also check ground cable
The ignition switch sends voltage to the starter solenoid, if no neutral or brake switch is involved. It is sometimes located ON the starter. It activates a high-current switch that engages the starter. If you don't hear a click, the solenoid could be bad. Since the high current can damage the contacts, you could still hear a click and not get the starter to spin. Sometimes hitting the solenoid, or starter lightly with a wrench or hammer will realign the contacts and you can get another spin from the starter. Hitting the exposed contact on the cable that goes straight from the battery to the solenoid can cause a spark, or explode the battery.
So, the ignition switch, battery, starter, starter solenoid, a fuse, a neutral switch, brake switch, or wiring can be the cause of a starter not engaging.
SOURCE: WON`T START 2000 FORD IS IT BATTERY??
sounds like you need to have the battery checked, this is most likely cause of your problem
SOURCE: starter won't turn over (no starting noise)
i think the battery is trash, and you could have killed the silonoid on teh starter as well. use a volt meter to trace where your getting power oand if your gettting power to the starter, not the main power but the ignition wire on it.
if you are the starter is bad, if your getting pnly some power there the battery is mor likely the problem.
It is also so easy to kill these systems these days, if you jumped it and hit the battery the wrong way or shorted it out, could be more then just a starter n battery.
make sure you test teh igniton side of the starter when someone is trying to start it. the cheapest trick in the book is tap it with a hammer, sometimes they get stuck or froze when they are going bad, i have seen that work more time then not
good luck and hope i could help
SOURCE: turn key to start and it wont start, just makes a
if it is standard shift then check the clutch disable switch.... if auto then check neutral safety switch on transmission....confirm power to the starter itself.. report back

It sounds like a dead battery. Didn't they check the battery while they were testing the starter? Check out the voltage, or just take the battery to walmart and have it tested. 13+ volts min, electrolyte fluid has to be good in all 6 cells, one dead cell, =dead battery, make sure it has water in it. Check the terminals, make sure they are clean and tight. Hope this helps.
more then likely its a bad starter. or the cable to starter.
