My 2003 Cruiser started doing this, randomly and rapidly cycling the locks. Believe it or not, the dealer said it was a bad battery. Considering the problem started halfway through a long road trip, I thought the guy was smoking something, but by george, replacing the battery cured the problem.
Sounds like one of the door lock switches is shorting. If possible, disconnect the drivers' side door lock switch first and see if the problem continues. For a problem like this (out of warranty), and reputable repair shop would be less expensive than a dealership.
