Oil light flashing, last oil change 7 wks ago

make sure your plastic coolant container mounted on inside right fender is at least half full. Keep your eye on the temp gauge and make sure the car doesn't overheat. These sensors are very touchy and sometimes cause a fault when actually there is no real problem. Also make sure you didn't knock loose the oil pressure sending unit connector, located near the oil filter. Happy Motoring!

don't trust any people for engine oil change take oil level after they change it.

check your coolant might be a head gasket issue!

to reset the check oil light on your car. First put the accelarator pedal to the floor , then while holding down pedal turn the key to the run position without starting vehicle, now quickly pump the accelarator pedal 4 - 5 times and hold pedal to floor on 5th pump. Wait for check oil light to flash then turn off key and remove it . Repeat if neccecary

With that kind of maintenace pump and bearings should be ok,the oil pressure sending units get weak on these models I have replaced alot of these for this same condition.The check engine light reads its voltage from the sensor.

they didnt reset the computer when they changed it,
turn your key all the way on (but do not start the car) and push the gas peddle 3 thimes real fast all the way too the floor,this resets the change oil sensor,till the next 3000 miles you may have too do this several times for it too work it takes my truck 7 times !!!

Hello - I have a 2003 Grand Am GT and to reset my "Change Oil" light, I turn the ignition key to the on position (without starting the car) and fully press the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. The "Change Oil" light will flash a few times then turn off.

Nowdays 1 Qt. in 3000 miles, really isn't that bad, even some new vehicles claim that's normal. I know with my current vehicles, both at approx. 150,000-160,000 miles, they won't use any for first while after an oil change, but then after mileage starts adding up again, they start to use a little, approx.I Qt, every 1000 miles or so, until it's changed again. I've switched to the high mileage oil, just for piece of mind, as they say it revives seals, and has added protection for the higher mileage engines.This time around I'm thinking of adding "Lucas" & see how it works, as I've heard some pretty good reports on it, just to see if it will prolong that oil breakdown, at mid change.

Oil pressure switch maybe bad, replace it no chatter in motor?
