If your problem is pressure when you release the gas cap it could be one of several problems. The first two are easy. A fuel pressure sensor on top of the charcoal canister under the computer and air filter on thew drivers side engine compartment. The next is the purge valve located on the front top of the engine under the cover. A hard line runs from the purge valve to the sensor on the charcoal canister.

The third is the most difficult. It is the fuel tank pressure sensor on top of the fuel tank. I believe you will need to drop or at least lower the fuel tank. Not an easy task. I have heard some models have an access plate in the trunk under the mat but mine did not. All are under $50.00 ea. and readily available at your local parts store or online. It is very important you get this fixed asap as it will build enough pressure to find a weak spot in the tank and rupture it. That happened to me.

While it is not ideal, you can temporarily loosen the gas cap to where it is just sitting in the filler tube when driving until you can fix it. Then have your check engine light reset.

SOURCE: 2001 buick lesabre gas cap loose warning light

GM vehicles are fmaous for this warning. I had the same problem in my GM vehicle and had to replace the EVAP vent solenoid. Are you getting a DTC yet or just the tighten gas cap message? INspect the fuel cap to make sure it is not damaged and is installed properly. If it's damaged replace it. If all is good on the cap just wait for the DTC to show up but most likely you'll need to replace that solenoid.

SOURCE: where is pcv valve 1998 buick lesabre

Remove the sight shield from the fuel rail. (it's the large plastic shield that dresses up the engine) As you stand in front of the car the alternator is located on rear left side. In front of it is an electrical connector to the MAP sensor. Remove it. Press the PCV valve cover down and rotate it 1/4 turn counterclockwise. It is actully on the intake manifold. Lift the cover, the upper O-ring and the spring from the housing. Remove the pcv valve and the lower O-ring from the intake manifold.

Where is the fuel pump kill switch located in a 1998 Buick le sabre custom or the reset procedure

When you turn the key on the fuel pump should pump for about five to ten seconds. Do this a few times and it should start. Even with a full tank the pump will do this to pressurize the system. If the pump keeps running it's not picking up fuel. Have a friend listen at the gas cap with the cap removed for the pump to cycle. If it doesn't work there is a fitting on the fuel rail that looks like a valve on a tire. Take the cap off of it and use a small screwdriver to push the center in and see if there is pressure in the fuel rail. Have the key on and wear safety glasses. You should get a squirt of fuel out of it. If you have no pressure there the pump could be bad or the filter plugged. If there is pressure you have other problems. There is no shut off switch. Only fuses and a fuel pump relay. https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-samsung&source=android-browser&ei=_skGWP71NoOFmwGwvp-YCw&q=1998+buick+lesabre+fuel+pump+switch+location&oq=+1998+Buick+le+sabre+fuel+pump+switch+location&gs_l=mobile-gws-serp.1.0.30i10k1.20246.66235.0.71699.52.41.2.0.0.0.354.6560.4j26j8j2.40.0....0...1.1.64.mobile-gws-serp..17.35.5853...0i10k1j0i7i10i30k1j0i13k1j33i21k1j33i160k1.pAvwOOuWlKU#imgrc=99du9RTFFGCYhM%3A&scso=uid_WAbKSQAIdFcKJtQCGQCAqw_8:0

1998 Buick LaSabre LTd. 18,000 miles (no kidding). Engine light came on. Replaced gas cap & engine light stayed off for about a week. Engine light back on. Any suggestions?

Stop at Auto Zone or advance Auto and ask them to read the codes for you. That will give you a better idea of where to start.

How do you nturn off loose gas cap alert?

You need a scanner to do that, but...after so many starts of the engine, if the problem is solved, the light will go away. (I seem to think it's 50 starts)

Our Buick Lesabre stalls unless we keep our foot on the gas. If we take the foot off it stalls.

I've been having the same problem on my Dodge Dakota. I went through a few things, Map sensor, oxygen sensor, but it ended up being the Idle Air Control Sensor or Valve. Check that out. I took mine off and cleaned it up inside with Brake Cleaner. Works alot better. Will eventually have to change it, but it's good for now. It doesn't stall practically at all anymore. Hope this helps a little.
