My car runs fine then the check engine light comes on. A few minutes later the tach stops working, the temperature gauge stops working (fuel gauge still works though) and the car looses power. If I shift it manually (its is automaitic ny the way) I can build up speed to about 80 km/hr but that's it

d4 is flashing as a trouble code for the automatic transmission... i would say without research that it is a code for a transmission solenoid. maybe while washing the car some water got in and caused a short...these solenoids are usually weatherproof....you could try disconnscting the battery for 30 secs..to clear the trouble code and then start the car. remember you may lose your preset info!

Try pounding on the gas tank with a rubber mallet or similar tool. (careful not to dent the tank) Try starting it. If it runs, replace the fuel pump (it's nfg). I've diagnosed numerous fuel pumps this way. Remember the pump needs to be replaced, if you drive it, you don't know when it'll fail for good. Hope this helps. Please post the results.

P1361 TDC Sensor Intermittent Interruption (I got this from Engine-Light-Help.com)
TDC should mean Top Dead Center.
It is the sensor that tells the computer the #1 cylinder piston is at the very top. And therefore, fires the spark plug.
Since the maintenance done above, I believe the the timing marks for the timing belt is not lined up properly. Being off by one tooth will cause this problem.
