I had this same problem for a little bit. Try a new battery. Sometimes battery just strong enough to start and drive for a while, but then when you stop for a while, it may not start. I changed the battery and works great now.

Sometimes my truck start will not start but if I turn the key off and wait for ten minutes and try again it will start.

I have had this same issue with both my personal truck and MANY customers cars. Every time, it was something different. Ignition Module, Immoblizer, Corrosion on the Battery, Loose Wire on the Starter, Neutral Safety Switch and Key... ... You need to troubleshoot it while it is not working.

I have a 1996 chevy truck and with the key off my lights are on and my back light is on and when i try to start it there is nothing?

Is the lights being on draining the battery, if not then you have two problems, first check the lights, unplug connector from headlight switch and see if that turns lights off, if so then replace the headlight switch, next is the starting if battery is fully charged and nothing happens when key is turned then i would start by checking the starter, with a test light have someone hold the key in the start postion while you test starter, the back of the starter seliniod you will see two connections, one is a big connection with a battery cable going to it, that cable should have power at all times then theres a small connection next ti the big one with a small wire, thats the trigger wire that should have power when key is in the start postion, if theres power to both then replace the starter and thats the starting problem. good day.

We have to assume the battery is usable, if not, anything else doesn't help. A couple of possibilities- First, get a simple, cheap device that uses a 9V battery and the car's cigarette lighter to prevent losing anti-theft codes. Once this is plugged in, remove the negative battery cable first, then the positive. CLEAN the battery connectors and terminals. Try to start the engine. If it still does the same thing, remove the negative battery cable again and follow it to its next connection and clean that point. While it is off, remove the other end of the positive cable which goes to the starter terminal and clean both points.
While under the hood, look for the cable connecting the engine block to the body of the car and clean both ends of that cable.
If the problem is still there, it can be related to one of these; the ignition switch, the starter solenoid or a corroded fuse connection. The starter is not protected by a fuse but the solenoid may be.
Good luck-

03 chev s 10 pickup no start -turn the key get lights stereo fuel pump everything But the starter-have to turn the key back and forth until it finally starts except one time ten minutes of nothing gave up...

I'd start with battery cables. (Hear me out) Lights and other accessories draw minimal amps whereas your starter draws 100s of amps. Your battery cables, especially the bottom ends are exposed to grease and grime which causes resistance. By turning key multiple times you actually heat cables up and they expand making better contact. That would be my first thing to look at. You very well could have bad starter & solenoid but I'd start w/cables. Clean them with a good stiff wire brush.

My 2006 pt cruiser wont start, no lights or radio. nothing? when i turn key nothing happens inside or out

Check the battery terminals for corossion. Look for the chalky white powder which is a tell tale sign. Simply move the cable connectors back and forth a few times to loosen corossion and provide a better contact. Have you checked your fuses. I probably spelled corossion wrong, sorry.

Chevy avalanche will not start

The battery connection to the starter may not be good. Loosen the cable and re-tighten. Check the starter relay, it should have 2 cables, 1 wire. it will consist of 1 to starter, 1 from battery and 1 the wire is the signal wire from the ignition. the contacts in the relay may be gone. It's usually mounted on the firewall and close to the battery. $15+ for the part, and easily replaced. his will definitely keep you sater from turning over.
