Remove the Center Support Drive Shaft Bearings

Check and see if your vehicle has a drive shaft center support. (carrier bearing). Make sure it is not dry that could be your problem or one of the front u-joints.

just take the drive shaft out and replace all u-joints (3) and ur center support bearing (1) in all on my 2002 gmc sierra 2wd it was 50 dollars

Change both axel bearings at the same time. The pinion bearing can be tested by slowly turning the drive shaft by hand and listening for any rough spots. It could be a carrier bearing or a bad U joint too. Isolate it by dropping the drive shaft and turning the pinion yoke by hand. If there is a problem, you'll be able it feel it. Then look at the drive shaft for worn carrier bearing and U joints.

DO U HAVE A 2 PIECE DRIVE SHAFT? IF SO REPLACE THE CENTER SUPPORT

The pilot bearing is located in the center of the flange of the crank shaft, to remove it you need a bearing puller or hook, bronze bearings can be removed with grease and old pilot shaft....

you need to take the shaft to a machine shop to have it pressed

if you dont have the proper tools its best too just pull the drive shaft and take it too autozone and have them press the new ones in!!!

on a two wheel drive the shaft should only angle down if this a used truck I would say the rear
axel was hit on the side that the drive shaft angels away from and the alignment should be checked out.

1. Remove the tire and wheel center cap.
2. Remove the drive axle nut.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel. .
4. Remove the brake rotor.
5. Disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing. Place a brass drift against the outer end of the wheel drive shaft in order to protect the wheel drive shaft threads. Sharply strike the brass drift with the hammer. Do not attempt to remove the wheel drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing at this time.
6. Remove the wheel hub and bearing from the steering knuckle by removing the three bolts coming in from the back side of the knuckle.

Of course you may have to use a hammer to loosen the bearing from the knuckle.
