Is there a seal or gasket on the 1999 Corolla tail lights and backup lights?

I get water in the wells at the bottom of the trunk lid after a heavy rain, it appears to come from the area of the lights

Sounds like your trunk seal leaks

Testimonial: "Seal appears fine, and no water was in the trunk itself, just pooled in the crevices of the lid..and ran out when the trunk was opened. I am going to work on light assembly sealing first, but thanks.."

SOURCE: Rain water leak

Yes Ive had this happen to my Toyota corrola and my dodge there are 2 different reasons why this is happening 1 of them it depends on if you have a sun/moon roof if so theres a vent in there so if any water or anything goes in it reroutes it too the outside of the car if its cloggeed water will spill into the car like that and just leave puddles the second thing is if you have it parked outside with trees all around theres vents up on the hood where the windsheild meets the hood they clog up so if you look along the back firewall which is under the hood all the way in the back theres a hole that gets clogged you need to clean that out and the easiest way to do that is get someone with a air compressor and blow air in that holke to push it all out it should fix all your water problems and if you have any questions let me know ill be glad to help, also please rate me.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi,

The jiggle method is not enough you have to look at the wires. I just did and I found out that all six wires were broken close to the splice. That splice is located close to the back seat.

Hope it hepls.

SOURCE: toyota camry trunk is leaking

you have to loosen the hood hinge where the lock is and move the lock ring lower to get the lid close tighter, if the car was damaged by an accident then you will have to get it repaired by a body shop or by someone who can find the high spot that it is hitting.

SOURCE: 1997 Toyota Camry LE. During wet weather, water

Most of the problems come when its raining and if its not being driven and water still comes in then its the bonnet rubber and if when its being driven then its due to the rear wheel throughing up water under wheelarch and somewhere theres a crack in the weld or somewhere and it will find its way in..
So if not using it clean it out and when rain stops look inside no rain no leak Have a goodday

Water leaking from plugs on bottom of gas tank

That makes no sense whatsoever. If water were coming out of the fuel tank, so would fuel and the car would not be driveable in that condition. What you are thinking is the fuel tank may well be the bottom of the trunk. The spare tire wells in most trunks have drain holes in case water gets into the trunk. This is more common than you think. The gasket that seals the trunk lid often gets loose over time and allows water intrusion. The water finds its way to the spare tire well and drains out.

Water builds up in jack well of 2008 cadillac srx

You must have a leak, check the seal for the trunk and make sure it is properly installed all of the way around. Also remove both tail lights and make sure there is not damage to the panel behind them. remove the side carpet panels in the trunk and look for signs of water trickling in. I have actually had to remove all of the trim and carpet in the trunk of a car and climb in with a flashlight while someone else sprayed the back of a car at all points and look for a leak. Good luck with it.

Water in the trunk of my 2002 intrepid

If you notice it after it rains, it could be a poorly sealing gasket for the trunk lid, or a leaking tail light.

Trunk leak-cant find the rear drains from sunroof

If water is in the trunk, then it is probably getting in through the rear tail lights. Common problem with early 90's Honda cars. To check, hose down the trunk area and tail lights, then look at the gaskets from inside the trunk. You'll probably will see some water. To fix, you need to take each tail light out and place a seal of silicon caulk between the body of the car and the tail light gasket and replace the tail lights. This should solve your water in the trunk problem.

Accumulation of water under the spare tire. Cannot find any leaks

Here is the best way to find out where the water is coming in. Get inside the trunk and have someone you trust close the trunk. make sure you do it when it is daylight or a well lit garage. while you are in the trunk with the lid closed you will be able to see light where there is any gap around the trunk seal and that will be where the water is coming in. some times the sides of the trunk opening gets bent down causing the trunk gasket not to seal properly.

Water is leaking into the trunk of my 2005 Honda accord whenever it rains

My 1990 Honda Accord does this too.
When I wash it or when it rains. If I open the trunk/deck lid water flows out of the right rear tail light housing into the trunk.

Solution: get some rubber gasket sealant and apply under the lower gasket around the rear window on each side at the corners. Allow for drying time. Close the trunk and try some water if this doesn't work you will likely have to replace the rear window seal.

Best of luck.
