The load shed operation is a means of reducing electrical loads during a low voltage or low battery SOC condition.
The idle boost operation is a means of improving generator performance during a low voltage or low battery SOC condition.
Each EPM function, either idle boost or load shed, is discrete. No 2 functions are active at the same time. What does battery saver mode mean?

means that you have been drawing power from the battery too long with out the cars charging system working so the car is designed to automatically cut down its power usage and display the message to let you know that battery power is in danger of being low

Generally it means you are drawing more power than the alternator is putting out, or if the engine is off the stereo or some other accessory is drawing power. The battery saver is warning you that you have just enough power left to start the engine. Could also mean you have a bad battery connection or your alternator is not putting out over 13 volts. If the engine is idling with air conditioning and stereo on for any length of time it could also trigger this warning as the alternator at idle speed may be unable to keep the battery at full.
