My 1996 jeep grand cherokee died last night and i mean DIED. it is sitting in a parking lot. I got a jump to help turn it on and as soon as i took my foot off the gas it died. I did this numerous times and it still is sitting there. If i take my foot off the gas it just dies and needs to be jumped again.

Sinc the car will trun over and run, the only thing it will not idle.
check the following items
fuel pump
fuel filter
alternator
battery
if none of that will help then you have go deeper than what is listed.
cam index
ECU
clutch sensor
Distributor (if you have one)
ignation module.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee has started needing a jump to get started about once a week.. had the alternator and battery tested, both are good. 2 nights ago it wouldnt start, so I got a jump and drove it...

I would have a load test done on the battery as there is a dead cell evident from the number of jump starts you need. Have an auto electrician test the alternator for charge rate and out put. check drive belt condition and tension.

Ignition Coil

Look into the crank sensor or an ecu that needs repairing. Those two, being bad, will cause a no spark condition in your jeep.

Electric fan stayed on last night after returning home , the jeep wouldn't start , jumped it with a starter box an it died as soon as i took my foot off the accelerator

that's because the battery was too dead to maintain operation you need 9 volts at the battery for the computer to run the injectors, the alternator was dumping all it could into the battery to revive it.and at idle it just wasn't enough. seems like you have a bad fan relay and a very dead battery. hope this helps you.

Truck won't start

this sounds like crankshaft position sensor, my Cherokee was ding same thing it ended up being crank shaft position sensor. this part costs about $50 and is easy to install.

Engine turns over but won't start

The codes will only lead the technician in the right direction to fix whatever part has failed, it won't be the fix, just wanted to make sure you understand that.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Alternator issues?

have the alternator regulator and diodes tested. sometimes when the regulators fail they allow ac voltage to go to the battery. ac voltage doesn't charge the battery properly (causes it to deep cycle and shortens its life) and causes all sorts of funny problems with the car. also make sure the battery is secured properly, vibration isn't good for them at all.
