Why won't my 2006 kia sedona passenger sliding door stay closed?

My sliding door on passenger side won't latch closed. My son got out of van and slid door closed but it won't catch closed. It appears closed but when you give a little push...door open. It looked closed and as I started to drive it opened. I had to have son hold it closed from front seat while I drove him to work. To get home...I used extension cord and tied to front door to hold closed until I got home. The whole ride home my car beeping that door was open. There is nothing stuck in the track and it looks just like the other door. When you go to. Slam shut....it opens as if something's in the way and there is not. How can I fix this and if i need to get fixed will it be expensive?

SOURCE: 2007 Kia Sedona van power sliding door

i just had to have this fixed on my 07 sedona on the bottom arm for the doors there are litle lock solinoids that go bad i would take it to a dealer to have it checked for the switch you can turn the power off to the doors and open them manualy but they are hard to open because you are pulling the cable instead of the motor doing it and this will not hurt the doors

Removing 2006 kia sedona captain seats

Ditto for me. My son accidently latched one of the rear latches but none of the others. We could not get it off. We found this answer and tried it and it worked. I lifted on the rear of the seat while he folded the back of the seat down. It released when we did this. Whew

Hello, The passenger's side sliding door on a 2004 Kia Sedona minivan, does not close correctly, unless you push really ******* the door to help it close. I believe the latch needs to be cleaned and...

Kia doesn't publish instructions for servicing JUST the latch assembly for the sliding door. They only have instructions for disassembling the ENTIRE door.

Basicly, this is what you need to do.
Remove the screws and the door finish panel. Part of it simply "clips" into place. Make sure all of the screws are removed before pulling on the panel to get the clips to let go. You will have to be inside the vehicle with the door closed to access some of the screws. The others can be accessed with the door partially open. The door will have to be open to get to the screws at the bottom of the door.
Remove 3 bolts securing the inner door handle.
Carefully peel the door screen (plastic film) from the door.
There should be 3 bolts securing the latch assembly to the door.
Release the clips securing the outer door handle linkage to the latch assembly.
Remove the latch assembly.
Reverse procedure to install.

NOTE: There is also a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) published by Kia that addresses sliding doors that are hard to open or close. It covers all the ADJUSTMENTS on the door that can cause these types of problems. The bulletin itself has lots of pictures and instructions about how to check for the actual CAUSE of the symptom and how to make adjustments to correct it. It is too large to post a copy here. You may try going by your Kia dealer to see if they will print a copy for you. If not, you can access the information by subscribing to AllData DIY for a small fee. (around $27/year)

It is Bulletin Number TT820405-001

2006 slider door latch problems

make sure the latch is open, use a screw driver, stick it in the middle of latch where the striker would latch the door, now open handle as if your opening the door hold handle in that position and pull screwdriver out slide away from door to open the latch, latch might have closed it self, try that first, hope this helps.
