when you replace new compressor/you shoud have to flush ACsystemby usingR11 AND needto replase expantion valve .after that you need to vaccuming AC system.also put AC compessor oil and refill 134A gas.
they will be located just before the radiator core in the cab but some american vehicles have the expansion valve inside the actual pipe its known as a reed valve or flute valve ,but in american ??? i have no idea what you would call them
Most likely a restriction in the lines causing the compressor to shut down after a breif period of cold air. Check for bad orifice tube or thermal expantion valve.
When they changed your compressor they should have changed you expantion valve (or orfice) and your reciever drier, point being when that compressior went bad there will be small parts from the compressor and plug things up expantion valve or the drier that is the filter for your system, thanks and I hope this helps you
sounds like the ac compressor locked up get new compressor and dryer and expantion valve and replace / make sure to clean out system good before installing
As long as the temp is consistant that should not be a problem. However if when the compressor is cycling off if the temp warms up this is not the proper function of the system. There are a few things to look for. have your technition check the presures on the service ports. the presures should change according to the engine R P M's but should not be a drastic change. if the low presure drops below 25 psi then ether the system is under charged or the expantion valve is sticking. these are a couple of things to look for. hope this information helps and good luck.
Hi Tresap,
The only expansion valve that I can think of that you may like to replace is on the air conditioning unit....This valve is found usualy mounted onto the AC unit....You'll have to remove the dash board and centre consul....This is qute a job....You should then see the expantion valve on the cabin side of the AC housing....where the pipes go thru into the engine compartment....NOW HOLD EVERYTHING.....before you can remove the valve you need to depressurize the AC unit....That should be done by an expert....The gas is dangerous and you must wear safety googles at ALL times....Once you have removed the valve, you must seal the system so that as little moisture as possible enters the system....If it is left open, you'll have to replace the dryer unit too....when you've finished your replacement, assembly is the opposite as disassembly.....You'll then need to have the system recharged....Don't try to engage it until that has been done....It wont work even if you tried ,as there are pressur switches which will inhibit the opperation....If you have had practice, it will take about three quarters of a day......if not, three or four days
