What makes a clunking in front over bumpy road?

Sway bar end links, or sway bar bushings.

when does it make the clunk sound? ie; 1) when driving over bumpy road, 2) when making a right or left hand turn, 3) when accelerating or 4) when coming to a stop.

Check lower control arm "hockey puck" bushings.

Could be several things.
Strut upper mount, ball joint, control arm bushings, and so on.

look at the front lower engine mount. I had similar noise which has been driving me nuts, thought may be thesway bar links, put it on friends hoist and saw that the front engine mount (mounted to bottom of lower radiator support) was cracked and the rubber bushing inside very worn with pieces missing. odd thing is that reving, or putting into gear never caused it to make a noise, just certain bumps. I ordered part from Autozone,hopefully it gets here before the holiday week end is over.

have you checked the sway bar links? they are a common failure. grab hold of the ends of the sway bar, and try to push up and down - hard. any clunking felt indicates a worn ball and socket joint in the link, and the link will need to be replaced. good luck!

There are several items that can create a clunk.
Struts and mounts, broken coil springs, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links and bushings and control arm bushings.
The most common problem I see in my shop on these cars are sway links and control arm bushings.
I would suggest you take it to a competent front end shop and get it checked over.

Yes! if you have struts the shock mounts cound be shot,Also check to see your exhaust isn't missing any hangers,that makes noise too,when the pipe clunks against the frame.Good Luck !

that souds like back axle bushings. regular problem on laguna 2. back axle ha to be removed and replace both sides. not very expensive
