Jeep 98 4 cylinders, shakes when on 50milesan hr.

My jeep 98, Manual, 4 cylinders shakes most often when driving on the highway. the front wheels begin to shake like the wheels are going to fall off, this makes the whole car to shake until I have to slow down to 40 miles an hr. I went to pep boys, the told me it was because all my schocks where bad. I recently have new schock front and rear, this problem still persists.

This problem is know as the death wobble. There is no one answer that will fix it. This is a well known problem among jeepers. Do a google search on death wobble and you will find a lot of help, but like I said there is no single answer. If your jeep is lifted, you need to find a really good alignment shop that has experience with lifted jeeps.

2008 Jeep Compass is stuck in 4 Wheel Drive with exclamation point by the 4 WD indicator...

If you are driving on the highway in 4wd drive the poise may be from the tyres trying to slip and equalise the drive line torque that is building up . Rule of thumb for all 4 wd vehicles is to restrict 4wd to loose surfaces (gravel-snow-ice -grass- mud --any surface that allows the tyres to slip) to relieve the torque wind up.

Please any suggestion ? 98' V8 5.2 ; Won't turn after highway run ! Either left or right, cranky noise , shaking ,strong vibration from the front wheels.BUT; when is cooling down -after 30 min.

I suggest that you check your front CV joints. It is common for the boots to tear, allowing the grease to leak out. Lack of lubrication, dirt and moisture destroys the joint. You can purchase a remanufactured shaft ready to install at some part stores. I have a '93 Grand Cherokee with 220,000 miles, and over its life, I have replaced both sides twice. Good luck!

Hello, it could any be number of things in the front suspension that could cause this. From control arm bushings & ball joints to bearings. I would have your Jeep put on a lift and given a good inspection before you do any more driving. I hope this helps.

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. There is a "violent" vibration that occurs only when you are going 40-60 MPH and you hit a bump or pot hole on the highway. The front end begins to...

Vibration from about 40-60 mph is usually attributed to wheel balancing, but the onset when you hit a bump seems to indicate play in the steering linkages (tie rods etc) or suspension members and stabiliser bar rubbers but you had that all checked out, that brings us back to the wheel balancing.

Can a 98 jeep grand cherokee 4.0l perminant 4+4 run without the front propshaft

The front propshaft on my full time 4 wheel drive 94 Grand Cherokee was vibrating badly years ago so I removed it and my Jeep has driven just fine without it since, no vibrations.Doesn't seem to cause any harm that I know of.
