Front Doors LOCKED OPEN.. How to close?

My mother closed front passenger door on seatbelt and depressed white plastic lock mechanism.. Now LOCKED OPEN and the locking mechanism just makes clicking sound but nothing happens. Out of stupid curiosity I went to driver side front door to compare white plastic pieces and lightly pushed on same matching white piece. NOW BOTH FRONT DOORS are in locked open position and unable to close. DESIGN FLAW.. you should not be able to lightly push on any piece and break both doors.

try pulling at bit on the plastic part while pulling on the handle. I f you can get a pen behind the plastic piece you can get a better grip.

SOURCE: 1996 Honda Civic Coupe Manual Doorl locks not working

The driver door can not be locked with the door open on all Hondas. It's a feature to prevent people from locking the door and leaving the keys in the car. You can however slightly pull the door release lever open, and it will allow you to lock the door, so this isn't something you have to fix, it's the way the car was designed. The door locks may have been replaced at some time before you purchased the car, and that may be why the keys don't work. I would check with a locksmith to see what they would charge to make up a key, and also check with a Honda dealer about getting a replacement key. If you show proof of ownership (registration, title, etc) the can provide a key by using the cars vin to cut a new one. Of course, if someone changed the lock cylinders the key won't work. Check what the dealer would charge for a key (from what I've heard, they usually don't charge much, unless it's the key with a chip in it), then the locksmith. Your last option would be to change the lock cylinders yourself, but the cost of the parts, then pulling the door panels off would probably be my last choice to fix them. Good luck, and let me know the outcome!

SOURCE: Drivers Door Lock Problem

You will probably need to replace the power door lock actuator.

Here's a link to one similar to yours.

You can probably get a used one from a salvage yard.

SOURCE: the driver side door does not unlock - can only (central locking)

Hi:
It is extremely difficult to remove the door panel with the door closed. You mentioned that you can unlock the door with a key, so does the door still open and close once unlocked? You most likely just need to replace the power door lock solenoid, as when they fail, they usually sieze up, and make manual lock unlocking difficult.

Freelander TD4 2003/5 doors, Central locking working with FOB to close all 5 doors, but when open, it opens front 2 doors !!!! (Driver side/passenger side only) rest of them only works manually!!!

I'm guessing this is a safety feature so you don't get car jacked. Try pressing the button for longer. Might even be a child lock feature, check child locks.

Keyless entry on honda civic 2006 not working

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.

Central locking wont stay open

Here's what I suspect is happening. The door locks will lock and unlock normally when the key is OUT of the ignition. If the key is IN the ignition, the doors cannot be locked (manually, key fob, or otherwise, if the system is operating as designed - prevents the doors being locked when the key is in the ignition). I've seen this problem before, but on a Santa Fe, not an Accent. The ground signal of the right hand front passenger door was lost, and the doors automatically locked. Perhaps something similar is happening in the circuit between the ETACS module and the right front passenger door lock/unlock actuator. Could be anywhere in the circuit.

d05b136.gif
ab4c712.gif These wiring diagrams may be helpful. The relays expecially may help solve this issue. As you can see, these relays are also controled by the ETACS module (Remote Keyless Entry).

"DOOR AJAR" Light Always On... Even with all doors shut... As a result the dome light is always on and "DOOR AJAR" shows up instead of the electronic speedomter so it can be seen how fast the vehicle is...

spray some lubricant (wd40 etc.) into the lock mechanism on the doors .. the switch may be jamming up ..

The front door entry system contains a latch that is fastened to the inside of the door frame and is controlled by the exterior and interior door handles. The latch contains a door ajar switch and a door lock actuator. The front doors can be locked/unlocked by the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter, the RKE keypad, the door lock control switch or the door lock cylinder .

All power door locks lock except the driver side front door

On my jetta, if you don't lock the doors with the remote then all doors lock except the drivers door. try this
1. closing all doors walk around to the passenger door.
2.open the door, using the button on the passenger door, lock the doors.

I had this happen to me on my jetta and found you could lock all the doors if you did'nt use the drivers door or you locked using the remote. They did this to keep the driver from locking the keys in the car. I hope this worked for you

Jam door locks

How about the passenger side - does it unlock with the key and switch there? Can you open the drivers door with a key? If both these are true, probably the unlock switch on the drivers door is faulty.
