Did you install a new bushing with the tensioner? There is a bulletin that talks about brass powder on the old tensioner. If there is, install bushing no#JF01-12-754. It sounds like you put new timing belt tensioner and belt, but without the spacer, it could cause problems.

SOURCE: I had the alternator, alternator belt replaced on

The alternator needs to be spaced in or out until the pulley is in line with the rest of your pulley's. They may have dropped or lost spacers when they changed it. You can use washers to do this or make slight bends to the mounting brackets if necessary. When it is right the belt will look straight with no visible bends. Hope this helps.

no. but this is alot of work. you will need to have all the proper tools. this job will run the average person two days.It is recommended to replace the water pump as well. you can get a complete head gasket kit that will include the head gasket, intake, exhaust. you will also want to check the timing tenioner and idler pulleys for wear. replace if needed.

How to replace the tention idler pulley

using a breaker bar or some other tool w/ 1/2'' drive, insert into idler, there is a square hole, remove belt tension, donot remove belt, but lift belt off say the alternator, it would help if you hang the belt w/ wire or something so as not to let it drop. using a 15mm wrench, remove mounting bolt to idler, remove idler. better to replace the entire ilder w/ pulley, as an assymbly, they wear out like any thing else. when istalling new idler, must be positioned correctly. theres a finger which protrudes out of idler, this must be inserted @ engine sideof idler. reinstall bolt, tighten, reposition belt, using breaker bar 1/2" drive again, remove belt tension, so you can get belt over alternator pulley, release tension , done ! make sure belt is centered, and on properly according to belt rounting. when satisfied w/installation , start engine, check your work, remember to visulize existing idler, etc., etc., before you start this so you can put on the new one on exactly the way the old one was !!!!!!!!!!1

Where do i release the tention on the serpent belt so i can put the alternator belt on?

What you are lookin for on the engine is something called an Idler pulley or a belt tensioner pulley. Not being familiar with the configuration of the model you described, if the engine is side mounted the pulley will be on the passenger side under the belt. The belt will actually be wrapped around the tensioner. What you have to find out is which pulley it is. It will be a smaller pulley and the belt will be in contact with this pulley. It has no other use the to cause tension for the belt. Probably a 11-13mm wrench.

Where is belt tensioner and how do you turn it to loosen belt to change

The belt tentioner pully is the idler pully in the serpentine belt system...
You need a long wrnch (11/16??) to fit the pullys center bolt...
Turn the bolt to the right ( righty tighty) and the tentioner will losten its tention on the belt enough to remove the belt...
Imediately replace the belt ... so its routing is not forgotten by time or distraction...
If there is still a sticker on the upper radiator support reflecting the serpintine belt routing.. then you are in a better spot to be doing this ... with distractions...

Cant put belt on after replaceing idler pully

try putting it over where it belongs but leave it off of the smoothe tensioner . then put it over the smooth tensioner last .. It slides over it easier than the others.
