On a 2.4 PT It's found at the rear of the cylinder block, on a 2.0 it's found on front side of engine block.
There are VIN numbers on the dash board viewed through the screen. On the fire wall can be found the body code plate.
On the T350 manual transaxle the codes can be found on the transaxle end cover and on the G288, it's found on the transaxle bell housing.
Finally, on auto trans, it's found affixed to the trans axle torque converter housing. Have a poke about and you should find what you are looking for. some plates contain partial information, but all should match, as you know.
Hope you find this helpful. Red

Where can I find chassis number on Jeep Cherokee y.2003 and y.2005?Thank you

Chassis/VIN Plate
Cherokee VIN plate is located on the offside of the bulkhead on riveted metal plate adjacent to bonnet hinge . The body/build plate is on the nearside of the bulkhead and displays a VIN repeat.

A secondary position can be found in a sticker format on the bottom inside of the passenger door.

In later Jeep models the VIN data plate can be located on the passenger or rear passenger door pillar

Location of Chassis number on 1997 Wraangler

When you say 'chassis number' do you mean an identification code for the 'body'? If so, here's a quote from a manual (2003 Wrangler) :

BODY CODE PLATE
A metal body code plate is attached to the floor pan
under the drivers seat. Disengage the snaps
attaching the carpet to the floor pan to read the
information. There are seven lines of information on
the body code plate. Lines 4, 5, 6, and 7 are not used
to define service information. Information reads from
left to right, starting with line 3 in the center of the
plate to line 1 at the bottom of the plate...
