How to deactivate the rear shade on 2006 avalon. When in reverse it clicks loudly like going through a cycle but the shade does go up.

Check the fuses and see if their is a fuse for just that motor

go to avalon, dealer, and ask them. (or any ASE mech, on earth)
or buy the FSM and read that.

yes this has been a problem since reverse was invented... it's called trial and error.

napa,auto zone has those directions also the parts dept at your dealer and the owners book has those in the rear of your book

You guys do of course realize that the original poster is talking about the rear window shade assembly... not the passenger doors. Every single one of your comments is about the wrong part. The rear window shade assembly is a single unit... if the motor is no longer functioning, you will have to replace the entire thing. And they're not cheap either.

try this , it shows you the general area of the switch. There seems to have been problems with them though. I would also check the fuse and the switch itself.
