1994 lesabre not shifting

I have a 1994 Lesabre that suddenly today stopped shifting from second gear into third. It shifts fine from 1st to second, (so its not stuck in second such as limp mode), no check engine light either, just stopped shifting to 3rd.

It's a gamble but it only costs about 12.00. Add 1 Qt. bottle of Lucas transmission additive. Run engine at idle in park for 20 to 30 minutes. test drive, Accelerate and decelerate a few times, If it does not shift.you're in for a repair job. LOL

Not a solution but a suggestion.. If you have a scanner hook it up and check for codes that way... it could be throtle positioning sensor

I would have the transmission shop check out the transmission.
The transmission may have a soleniod issue.

No, the modulator on a 4t60e only will adjust shift feel, not shift points. Does the trans not shift up or go it to neutral instead of 2nd? Does you speedo work? The pcm needs a speed input to shift the trans. You might have a bad VSS

Take it to a real mechanic, not the phoney physics at the zone. The speed sensor will not respond if the car is not moving. May be an air flow sensor. They will go bad if it has ever been wet. They can be checked with a scan tool.

Had no problems with transmission ,came to a stop put in reverse would not go put back in drive and will only go in low gear

I take it the shifter will work at all selections made. The problem pertains to the automatic shifting inside the hydralic pump only which a transmission is. if its stuck in low gear the solenoid for 2nd & 3rd gear is bad. That will leave you in 1st gear only all the time until the bad solenoid is replaced

you may have a bad sencer in the tran take it to a well nown tran shop and have them run a scan on it. to be truthful i pretty shore your tran is on its way out.

Will not shift to third gear

U need to have a trouble code test run to see if the 2-3 shift solenoid inside the trans is defective or the circuit to it, this can also be a trans connector problem.
