Brand new battery and alternator. lights nincluding interior acts weird. battery will hold a charge long enough to get alt back to amps. truck will run but once cut-off, seems to almost immediately lose charge. int lights will turn on/off along with dash panel at what seem to be random moments! any thoughts? tranny was just replaced/rebuit. can't make time to jump every time. Could it be a relay or short ground?
Do a parasitic battery drain test to find what's draining the battery

I had this same problem and also heard the relays clicking. This was due to a poor connection to the battery. I tightend cables at the battery and solved the issue. NO problem since. This also happend about three weeks after I changed my battery,
SOURCE: possible bad alternator?
I went through three alternators before we found a good one for our saturn sl2. Now she has been good for two years. All I did was go back to where we bought it from, they hooked up the alternator to a machine and gave us a new one when it read that it was faulty.
SOURCE: New battery but still acts dead - Does computer need to be reset?
do not suspect computer.
1 the new battery may not have been charged from the store so would need to be charged before use, charge new battery on a charging set and see if this resoves the problem. *or use slave leads and start from a second vehicle)
2 your alternator may not be charging the battery so after a while it will just die. use a volt meter and check that volage is increaseing to your battery when the engine is running.
if not suspect alterantor defective and may need replacement.

Not to well versed on the S-10 electrical system but I would take a look at the voltage regulator.
It sounds like there is a malfunction that charges your battery sometimes but shorts out the alternator other times. Try having it tested or replace it
WD-40 will not do the trick for cleaning your terminals. WD-40 was developed during the 2nd WW to combat moisture in radio equipment in the South Pacific. WD stands for water displacement and the 40 is for formula #40. To clean the terminals you must disconnect them and use an abrasive such as emery cloth to remove the corrosion. They should be brite and shiny when you put them back together. I always cote mine wit dei-electric grease before re-assembly
