Ac vent selector wont swich

Where is the ac vent selecter control board can i bypass it

  • dan lincoln May 14, 2014

Hi keith , I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? there is so much info required to identify. i recommend that you seek this info at the library. determine which system it is. follow guided diagnostics in the service manual. or they have free access to a database at most locations to mitchell manuals. some libraries have service publications donated to them by dealerships, kept in the reference area.

Not sure why you want to bypass it , this gismo moves damper under dash to allow wether you get cold or hot air out of vents depending on what you select on dash control (hi /low vents) if theres a problem with it most times it comes from ac condensate collection pan drain clogging up and water spills over into duct work rusting the damper shafts making it impossible for damper movers to move them , producing a fault or hot or freezing cold air all the time , sorry no easy fix for this but removing underdash ductwork and cleaning / replacing them lots of hours upside down with your feet on seats and head under dash , just kidding ...... most times we just take front seats out that makes plenty of room

2010 jeep, ac quit blowing air thru ac vent, only on floor/defroster vents

the mode selector is often vacuum controlled. a simple leaky vacuum line can stop proper vent operation. the plastic hoses become brittle so small cracks can appear. can be tough to find.

Problem with airflow selector switch

The clicking is caused from a blend door motor not working properly. This motor moves a door in the heater box to control airflow. There may be 2-3 motors in the heating/AC system and one of them is causing the problem and will have to be changed

Air Conditioner Will not turn on Recirculation

there is a selector motor on the side of the heat ac coil box under the dash. it should have 2 or 3 levers on the side of it. it controls the dampeners the select where your air is moving to from the defrost to the bi level to the floor or all of the above find that control module and then turn the car on and start moving the selector switch back and forth slowly while watching that module if its moving the levers then you have a more serious problem and need to have a professional look at it. check to make sure that the levers are even connected and that the wiring harness is even hooked to the control module

Vent selector inop

U have either lost the vacuum to the mode selector switch (in the dash control) or the vacuum mode selector switch is leaking in the ac/heater control in the dash, u can usually hear a hiss if it is leaking. the vacuum source is the engine, a small hose runs through the firewall on the passenger side to the switch from the eng vacuum source.

Vent Select Knob Not Functioning

maybe a fuse problem but some of these problems are vacuum source problems also. if the vents are motorized, then it could be a fuse problem but if the vents are air solenoids, then it is a vacuum source problem.

you can verify this by looking underneath the globe compartment, if you can see the recycle vent controller, you can verify if the controller has electrical wires on it or just plain hoses.

if plain hoses you see, you could have a broken line from the engine vacuum to the controller.

check for broken small hoses from the controller switch going to the engine.

Dash Vents wont blow as selected

THE COMPRESSOR IS SUPOST TO RUN NOT MATTER IF IS IN HOT OR IN COLD MODE SOME TIME THERE IS A POSITION WHERE THE A/C WILL BE OFF AND THIS IS ON THE KNOB CONTROL WHERE YOU SET DEFROST AR FT VENTS
ALSO ON THE THE SWITCHING FROM DASH TO FLOOR CHECK FOR ANY VACIUM LEAKS FROM THE ENGINE COMPARMENT SINCE MOST OF TIMES THIS IS CONTROLED BY VACIUM ACTUATORS
