SOURCE: Trail Blazer

One cause is that when filling the AC with freon, what happens is that people are not told to let the air out of the system and the can at the same time. So you fill your system to what you think it is full and it is really just full of air. The other is the relay is not opening fully. The other issue is the heater core is dirty and needs to be cleaned out with a jet of water

SOURCE: AC does not work

Check the fuse for the A/C and try refilling the A/C with R134. You can buy the re charge kit at Auto Zone or Wal Mart, almost any Auto parts store. If the system is low on R134 the A/C compressor will not activate to keep it from burning out.
Try checking the fuse first then re charge the system with a can 12oz of R134. Just keep in mind not to over charge the system. Just follow the instruction and you'll be fine.
Keep me posted, be glad to help out.

1. Place the ignition switch in the off position.
2. Remove the HVAC/ECAS fuse for 10 seconds or more. It's in the under hood fuse box. Put the temp in full cold.
3. Install the fuse.
4. Start the engine. DO NOT TOUCH THE HVAC CONTROLS FOR LESS THAN 45 SECONDS.
5. Have any codes cleared with a scan tool.

2004 chevrolet suburban AC blows hot/cold at same time

You need to replace the drivers side temp actuator that is located on the left side of the HVAC box. It is retained by 3 screws and is fairly easy to replace.
