2001 lincoln ls engine coolant piping

I need a diagram of the piping for the engine coolant reservoir. Due to unidentified leakage problems. Also because smoke comes out under the hood when not driving and it smells like burnt rubber.

To find coolant leaks use a radiator pressure tester as leaks sometimes appear to be from a point but in fact are from somewhere else. As to the smoke check the condition of the drive belt and the tension of the belt.

Sounds to me like a leaking heater core, probably just started. Quite an extensive operation to replace. If you happen to be in a cold climate, the windows will undoubtedly fog up. Hope this helps

There are 2 possible diagrams depending on if you have a 4.6L SOHC or a 4.6L DOHC. This information should be on the plate under the hood. Best of luck!

Is there a radiator cap on the 2001 LINC LS

No. Not like older cars had. Starting in 2000 it moved to the overflow coolant reservoir. It's a big, black cap with yellow lettering. After adding coolant, make certain you screw on until it clicks. (Its a pressure cap.)

Coolant leaking from coolant reservoir and overheating

Hello jmuse3...If the coolant reservior is damaged or cracked causing the leak it will need to be replaced. If it is from the overflow due to the overheating, it won't need to be. There are several componets that make up the cooling system on your Lincoln, they all need to work together to keep your engine from overheating. Thermostat sticking, or not fully opening. Radiator clogged, preventing circulation of the coolant. Electric cooling fans not working. Defective water pump.
These are things that need to be checked. If you need more assistance, reply back.
I hope this helps.

How difficult is it to replace coolant resesvoir on a 2001 Lincoln LS with V8 engine

Typically reservoirs have a few bolts on the top and /or sides and a push in mount on the bottom and a hose going from the bottom to the Radiator as well as an overflow hose on the top. Remove those bolts and pull up on the tank before you take off the bottom hose. Now have the new tank close while you remove the bottom hose, then quickly put the hose on the new tank. You can also use a pair of vice grips to pinch off the bottom hose so you don't lose too much coolant. I suggest you put a pan under the vehicle to catch the coolant that leaks out. Reverse procedure to re-install tank, making sure you get that push mount shaft into the right hole so the bolts will line up.

I have a garage for ford, mercury, lincoln vehicles ... i have an overheating problem with a 2001 lincoln ls .. the problem is : the temperature stays normal for a long time but suddenly it rises till the...

Sounds like the coolant is getting away, while driveing the car.
Cool the radiator with a water hose, let engine cool for a while check the hoses for pressure inside by pinching them ! Then remove the radiator cap, when no pressure is detected! Is the coolant reservoir over full? If so,check the pressure cap,and check the fill neck of the radiator where the cap seats. Look for smooth surface no surface area gone or cracked!Replensh as needed with 50/50 mix.coolant and water.
If the engine got hot enough to warp the head, the gasket may not hold the pressure normally,in the engine, while driveing! The head may be warped! It only takes .005 of warpage to loose coolant. From exhause gasses getting into the systemHas the flow ben altered at the rear or side nearest the water valve for the heater core? May just be a circulation problem! Check really good for leaks, with engine off!
