2013 Toyota Avalon

The center console on my 2013 Toyota Avalon gets red hot on the sides and underneath the cup holders. The heat is intense. It seems hotter on the passenger side and for a larger area. It is still hot on the drivers side. The specific location of the heat is on the right and left side of the console just behind the gear shifter and right where the console runs goes next to the seat. Anyone else having this problem? Bringing this into the dealer tomorrow.

I suspect that the insulator that seals the selector lever to the floor and the lever inside the car is allowing engine heat ,road heat to enter the cab past the gear lever. IT is common problem if the insulator rots or is not replaced after gear box removal say for clutch replacement.

Sounds like exhaust heat getting past insulator. Car will still be under warranty anyway won't it?

SOURCE: 99 4Runner heat blowing from console behind driver's seat

It sounds silly but there is a separate unit in your console that you can only turn off if you go in from back seats. You probably already did that, but if not try. You can not turn it off from any controls on front panel. If it doesn't work, I would think something is wrong with the switch. Open it up and look at wire connection from switch regulator. It also has a heat regulator on the console facing back seats? Mine does anyways.

you know if i had a 2008 toyota with a 5 year bumper to bumper and a 10 year drive train warranty i would take it to a dealer if i had a problem with it.

sounds like a screwed up wiper linkage, and that is no doubt a dealer part, so again i would take it to a dealer.

Remove cup holder ash tray mazda mpv 2004

To remove the cup holder/ashtray in a 2004 Mazda MPV, you can follow these steps:
  1. Open the cup holder/ashtray and locate the small tab on the right-hand side of the unit.
  2. Using a flathead screwdriver or other suitable tool, gently press down on the tab to release the retaining clip.
  3. While holding down the tab, pull the cup holder/ashtray unit towards you to release it from the center console.
  4. Once the unit is free, disconnect any wiring harnesses or light bulbs attached to it, if applicable.
To reinstall the cup holder/ashtray, simply reverse these steps, making sure the retaining clip snaps back into place when reinserting the unit into the center console.

Trying to get the stuff that has fallen under the center console in a 2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV

Remove the arm rest door to the center console (Philips screws in the hinge first, pull the bezel around the CD and Heat control, then take out the rubber from the cup holders and remove the screws, also remove the screws inside the center storage compartment. You should be able to remove the center storage compartment and gain access to the area underneath.

Replace Cup Holder and Air Vent

A Chilton or equivalent shop manual should tell you. In general, consider that these items are installed in a flash at the factory by non-skilled workers, so it probably goes in real simply and quickly. Look for little catches, tabs, slots, etc., that line it up, and snap it in.

Pass cv joint will not come out of carier, removed clip, what next ? 97 toyota avalon...

This is for the removal of the passenger side cv joint. If the Avalon carrier is like the Camry you will have to remove the snap ring and the set bolt. You have 2 choices to get the carrier bearing out,(1) remove bracket, and take it out with the cv joint as yiu noticed the bolts are in tight spot (2) You will need a torch with a rose bud tip and put a lot of heat (red hot)on the cast iron bracket and be in postion to hit the cv joint bearing (on the tire side of carrier) with a hammer and drive it out. This is the way I prefer but, take caution with flame. Do step 2 only if you are planning on replacing the cv joint anyway.

2006 uplander. How do you remove the lower center console box? My wallet got flipped out behind it. It's the console box almost on the floor below the radio and two-cup holder pullout. Thanks

i had to remove this due to my wife pushing the center cup holder off of the track. to remove it you need to remove both side panels of the console. you can do this by pulling on the sides, they have clips holding them. i also had to unscrew the front of the console door to gain access. take your time and dont pull too hard and you should be able to get it. before doing that, try reaching your hand around the back of the console to see if you can reach. it is hollow back there. good luck

Replacing factory radio

Start by removing the trim around the shifter, its friction fitted so it will pop off with gentle force. Then you can remove the larger piece of trim that surrounds the shifter and extends up to the cup holders, I found that prying from the cup holder end seems to work best. Now you will be able to remove the trim that runs down the side of the center consol and includes the cup holders and power plug, you undo the 2 screws near the shifters then pry it off down the sides and pulls clear from the dash. Only then can you undo the bolts that hold down the bottom of the radio frame. From there it becomes alot easier. Push on the frame where you just pulled the bolts out of while prying gently at the radio consol. The whole thing will come out the factory unit comes out easily then you can put your dash adapter (schoche makes a decent kit) and aftermarket unit in.
